Yeah man, Guinness are actually owned by Diageo who also own such brands as Smirnoff, Baileys etc and are basically the biggest player in the spirits market by far. They are HUGE.

They work for us They may be big but they kiss our asses to help promote their products. My job is definatly the line of work for freebies heh. But yeah working anywhere in Diageo would be fun, moreso in Maxxium though as they are based up in Scotland and own brands such as grouse and jim beam and are great guys to get along with.

Bleh, well I work for HMG so I get to shoot things, and jump out of perfectly working planes, and get paid for it so I dont care anymore! Who would have thought 10 years an HND, a degree and 2 masters would have me on the same intellectual playing field as prince harry eh? Though the beer is a pound a pint in the officers mess, tax free you know, the bennies are great! Plus, I get to make camps, traps, and camo in real life, I really am a ranger! Beats the crap out of, well, looking at crap tbh!

Very nice man. Ive always wanted to skydive but never got around to it. Now i know its different to drops but is it as good as i expect it to be?

Standard freefall is great, its like going of a high dive in a pool, but after a few secs you just start going "This is cool!". HALO, is like a freefall on steroids, especially when its REALLY high up and you have to dress like darth vader to do it. HAHO is weird, its like your floating for ages (you are but its really peaceful). But my favourite acronym is TALO, thats like the entebbe raid where you land a herc and roar out the back in a Land Rover shouting obscenties at the enemy (health and safety regs you know).

There are loads of places in the UK and some do a 1 week (i think) super intense course that gets you freefall qualified.

This has now become a chat thread hehe!

Thanks for the replies. I think im just going to have to suck it up and deal with the cold. I don't think I have a choice in this matter. I really wasnt clear when I asked about things to do. London is a definate palce we will be, her rules, but anything interesting/exciting to do in the whole of England is what I am curious about. We will be there for probably 6 or 7 days.

Nice, id say definatly go watch a football match if you can get the tickets. You'll love it. There are plenty of sights to see in London so that all sorted. Theres Eden project around somewhere south which is great. Watch a Rugby match and join the faithful who watch an american football match any always remark; "why wear helmets?".

Whatever the weather bud, you'll love it. Just make sure you have a couple of nights out, end is good for pissups.

Well, my Texas butt may be going to London in January. I have never been so I have a few questions for those that in the UK. First off, whats the weather like in January? Like I said I am a Texan, born and raised, so I'm used to it being in the 80's in January. I will also be the first to admit I am a major crytit when it comes to the cold. Next, what are some decent places to stay. I've found a couple decent deals in London, but will consider staying somewhere else if the lady friend lets us. Is the britrail pass worth it? Hows the beer? Any help and advice is greatly appreciated. If any of yall have any good tips on places to go and things to do I am all ears.

Okaaay. Weather? January, England, cold. Cold and wet with a chance of snow. You're used to 80 degree heat in Jan? If you are LUCKY it'll be as high as 40 here and people will be walking about saying "It's quite mild for January, innit?" (As an aside, folk here seem to keep their CH at 70 and the only AC you'll find is in high end luxury cars...)

Not sure of places to stay in London as, like Owen, when I'm there someone else is usually picking up the tab, if not I go stay at my aunts.

Britrail pass. If you're staying a few weeks is well worth it. There's plenty to do/see IN London, really good public transport (get a map showing underground and bus routes, and, if they still do them get a London Rover type ticket. Locals, please advise? Did Red ken do away with them or is there something similar?) If you get your Britrail pass get out of the big city and just go see.

Brighton is, interesting. York is OLD. And Leeds has Owen chained to streetlights nekkid...

Oh, and Google for a "Rough Guide" to London (or any other destination for that matter

Just read your later posts.

Got to go to Cardiff Arms Park (Wales) and see a rugby match.

The Eden Project is also well worth a visit, yup.

Go for Rugby Union, IMO much better. Ive played both for going on 8 years now and love union to pieces.

As for Old Perculier, try Speckled Hen or Black Sheep. Iwork with Black Sheep a lot and have met John Theakston who is the brewmaster of Black Sheep a good number of times for a pint at his bar. Oh and if you are anywhere near Massam, go to the Black Sheep Brewery Its a great day out and tell john Chris Woulds from the BWS team at ASDA says hi heh.
