Trap effect does too wear offoff :-) duration of the trap effect depsnds on the mob.


Toss one on a CL 82 Ravenous Torton and see how fast it wears off. ;-)

Maybe they did this in secret out of pity for us giving up so many sp and not getting any combat mods.



maybe this is there way of saying "rangers we know you exist have fun with this till we revamp you"



...But then I could just be rationalizing it

Remember, they completely changed the con/CL system. Go out and find a CL 200 Krayt and let me know about your trapping success. We were always able to trap CL 80ish critters (rancors) pre CU, the difference is the BIG critters went from level 200+ to level 80-85. So while there was a change that makes trapping more effective, I think it was on the MOB/CL side and not on the trap side.

i love it btw. Got some great fun and some white shiny balls today

Loved the look of that big group, who was laughing first, when i told them "Hey i can solo these". Ill bet we get respec Rangers now instead of respec Bounty Hunters.

So if anybody thinks they are going to leave it that we can solo krayts.......you have your head in the sand. Did someone post above that I should remove the nameof "the trap" so nobody would find out? ha ha! Oh please.


The whole intent of the CU was to prevent the individual from going out and tanking/solo'ing lairs, critters, NPC's, etc... So to think that as a Ranger and pretty much any minor combat prof you can go out and solo krayt's....one of the most desireable "kills" on any planet....well to think our traps are working as intended is just plain silly and folks are in denial. I hope it takes them a long time to "fix" it....or get the nerf bat out or whatever....meanwhile I will be out looting those big dragon boys on a daily basis and storing away the tissues and everything else they give me.


As a long time Ranger I would LOVE traps to keep working as they are....and we can pray and sign petitions and hold our breath till we turn blue (well, actually as a mon cal I am blue already!!) but I doubt it will matter, the new CU is all about balance unfortunately and solo'ing krayts and gorax has nothing to do with balance. Anyone who has been in this game very long will realize these will be "patched" at some point and suddenly one day we will try to solo something and WHAMO we will get a rude awakening!!

I must be doing something wrong. I use p-darts all the time, and still have stuff run up and chew on me part of the time, even with two traps on them.

If you think this trap is the same as it was pre-CU your crazy. The P-dart is pretty uber now. As a Master Rifleman/Master Ranger I solo'd 22 krayts yesterday. Not one I attacked and landed traps on every did ANY damage to me. You think these were like that before? Your crazy.


Toss a trap on a krayt or gorax (I have done both). The krayt will slow considerably on the first trap but not stop. Hit it again with trap #2 and if needed trap #3. At this point big dragon boy will stop dead in his tracks and you can nail away at him. Even Ancients...although going solo and with the high resists they have this takes awhile......I run through maybe 25 traps on one Ancient battle. Every 4-6 rifle shots I toss a trap on him. I mix up my traps with adhesive mesh and the little bomb one (can't think of it's name) to put some states on them and hopefully up my damage.


For once Rangers are useful for more than just finding things to kill. This better not get the nerf bat. For once I can add value to a hunting party.


The problem is we all know this will get nerfed. And it will get nerfed AFTER respec is over....so those of us thinking Ranger is finally useful will keep it, since we love it, then we will get nerfed post-respec and be stuck once again. Have you seen the new requirements for most professions? Not many folks will be jumping prof's post-respec like they did pre-CU. You better love what you are when the respec is over because it will take you awhile and lots of dedication to change it in my opinion.


For the love of Rangers everywhere don't nerf our traps.......let us finally be useful for something in battle and know for more than our "pretty" camps!
