Thread: Compiling a new community FAQ (Your input needed)
I always wondered which traps were ideal for which creature. To save problems I either just used the best one or used each one in turn while killing it. Would be great if we could categorise the type of creatures (levels or planets etc) that would be effected by each trap. Might make trapping interesting if you knew which traps you would need on a specific hunt.
Looks in trap storage shed ... hmm I think the Sonic Pulse today .. I'm fighting Dewbacks.
Will think more when I next play my ranger character .. been busy using the x2 xp crafting up my fiance's crafters to Masters ..

Yeah got busy this past few days but still going to have a go with it. Want me to just suggest lots of questions instead?
Why not do both? We'll throw questions at you, you throw some at us, and by the end of it all, we should have a pretty thorough FAQ.

How about some information of which profession looks for which organics.
I can find the schematics, but it'll take me a while to find the time. I've been going into job interviews left and right, and I'm almost done with a summer course, so I should have some time this weekend.
Kai has a wonderful guide HERE

Bah, looks like I'm not gonna score any points this time
.
Oh well, I should've looked first.
Here is what i have so far. Obviously this is just a rough copy from notepad but once i make the FAQ ill edit it up and make it nice and prety ![]()
Camps:
Q: What are camps?
A: Camps are temporary player placed 'structures' on the game world.
Q: What are camps used for?
A: They are used to heal wounds, but at a very slow pace without any medicines or healing specific characters. You also can avoid the 15 second delay to call a droid, vehicle, or pet. The two field base camps that Rangers can craft hold public crafting stations (Chemical only for the field base, then chemical and weapon / droid / general item stations for the high tech field base)
Q: What camps are there and what level are they craftable?
A: There is a wide range of camps that are available to the player as they progress through the scout and ranger trees, a list of which is included below:
Basic Camp: Novice Scout
Multiperson Camp: Survival 2
Improved Camp: Survival 4
High Tech Camp: Novice Ranger
Field Base: Frontiering 2
High Tech Field Base: Frontiering 4

Q: What traps are available, what do they cost to make and what effects do they have?

Lecepanine Dart: Hide(3) Bone(3): 5 Traps: Dizzies Target

Q: What is the range of traps?:
A: Range of traps is 48m for hand thrown 65m for droid launcher
Camo:
Q: What is Camo?
A: Camo or Camouflage is a ranger skill that is very similar to mask scent gained in scout. It essentially gives you a chance to 'hide' from a creature and not get 'agro'd' from that creature. Unlike mask scent camo requires the ranger to craft a camo kit specific to the planet you are on and have it in their inventory, every time the ranger uses the camo kit a charge is used. Camo is suposed to be more effective than mask scent and last longer.
Q: At what level are the camo kit schematics gained?
A: A run down is given below:
Wayfaring 1:
Corellia
Naboo
Tatooine
Wayfaring 2:
Rori
Talus
Wayfaring 3:
Yavin
Dantooine
Wayfaring 4:
Endor
Lok
Master Ranger:
Dathomir
Q: Does quality of resources affect camouflage?
A: Yes, quality of resource (Overall Quality Stat) determins how many uses your camo kit will have.
Q: Can i increase the number of uses of my camo kit?
A: In the crafting process yes through the use of experimentation. Overall quality stat determins your base uses and then if near a weapons, droid and general crafting station with a weapons, droid and general crafting tool you can experiment on the kit increasing it's uses.
Mask Scent:
Tracking:
Q: Can a master ranger track further than a 0040 ranger?
A: No. /areatrack is granted at novice ranger. Range is a fixed/max number of 500m and does not increase with skill. Distance is only shown at tracking xx3x.
Q: What levels of tracking give what features?
A: Progression in the tracking tree grants cumulative abilites:
Novice -- can track animals
0010 -- animals with compass direction
0020 -- animals & NPCs with compass direction
0030 -- animals & NPCs -- Compass direction and distance
0040 -- Animals, NPCs & Players -- Compass direction and distance
Master ranger - No additional benefits to the tracking skill
Harvesting:
Q: What is creature harvesting?
A: Creature harvesting is a gathering technique learnt in scout and developed up to master ranger and extended slightly with force sensitive skills. Harvesting creatures gives you scout xp and is the primary source of scout xp to progress through both ranger and scout trees.
Q: How do i harvest a creature?
A: You harvest a creature by either using the radial menu, going to harvest then selecting the available resource of by targeting a creature and using a macro.
Q: What are the most used macros for harvesting?
A: The most common are as follows:
Harvest bone and loot:
/harvest bone;
/loot all
Harvest meat and loot:
/harvest meat;
/loot all
Harvest hide and loot:
/harvest hide;
/loot all
Q: When I try and harvest a creature, I get a message saying "There are no intact resources on this creature"
A: The resource is shifting and will be back to normal with new stats shortly. Try harvesting something else while you wait.
Q. Why did I get a message saying I harvested some resources but left items on the creature?
A. Your inventory is full. Free up a slot and then /loot the creature. The resources will be in 100 unit containers on the corpses inventory but these recombine/stack inyour inventory.
Q. Did I lose scouting XP because my inventory was full and I've been leaving resources on the creature?
A. No. You still recieved the XP. Check your combat log to confirm this.
Q. I harvested stuff and my inventory was full, I can't make a free space, have I lost those resources?
A. Yes and no. If you are hunting solo and have no invent space, yes, you've lost the resource if you cna't get it into your inventory. If you are hunting in a group make sure your team mates know to /loot the corpse and they'll collect the resource for you.
Q: What happened to the group harvest penalty?
A: The -40% penalty for creature harvesting while grouped was removed in Feb '05, and replaced with new rules for bonuses to harvesting while grouped.
Q: What's the maximum group bonus I can receive while grouped? Do I need to be with a ranger?
A: To receive the maximum bonus, yes. Bonuses only take into account the highest bonus in the group, and does not stack with multiple scouts or rangers. It does not take into account your level of scout/ranger, so a master ranger will only get +40% if there is another master ranger in the group.
Group Harvesting bonuses
+20% increase in creature harvesting while grouped.
+30% increase in creature harvesting while grouped with a Ranger.
+40% increase in creature harvesting while grouped with a Master Ranger.
NOTE: You must be within 64m of a group members to receive harvesting bonus.
Terrain Negotiation:
What is terrain negotiation?
It quickens your speed over "rugged terrain," like mountains and hills. At a point (around 50 points of TN), this bonus no longer applies to your walking speed, and instead increases the speed at which you crawl while prone.
At what levels do i get terrain negotiation mods?
Scout Exploration 1: 20
Scout Exploration 3: 20
Master Scout: 10
Ranger Novice: 5
Ranger Wayfaring 2: 20
Ranger Wayfaring 4: 20
How can i increase my TN mods outside of skill boxes?
You can eat a food called Travel Biscuits that increases your TN mod for a short period of time. You can also wear TN clothing made by tailors using bio engineered tissues.
Does terrain negotiation increase my run speed?
No it doesnt, it only reduces the speed ruduction when negotiating hills and cliffs.
Rescue:
Foraging:
Creature Knowledge:
For the foraging part, I would suggest stealing Paks' info on the scout boards. It's pretty thorough
You should also mention that Camo works against NPCs and Creatures, whereas mask scent only works against creatures. This section will also need some updating once the next patch is tested and goes live.
I also think it's important to point out known issues/bugs along the way such as /areatrack which seems to have a "hole" at around 100m and also only tracks MOBs that have been spawned by having a player nearby.
I'll add as I think of more.
