I'm a master pike and one thing that I find works well is too carry a rifle (an assulat bowcaster in my case) and use it to pull from a distance. Once pulled I lob a few traps and then switch to pikes for the kill. It doesn't always work, but with timing and patience it's pretty solid. The one thing that I really like about the cu is no longer being tied into a specific weapon set.
