IMO a Ranger is always part of a well built group, any big hunting group 10+ people needs ranger camps.

I've tried DE and BH, both times i got two skills in each, saw how BROKEN each of those were, but was always working on scout/ranger skills. Compared to DE and BH, its the least broken of all classes.

I like the roleplaying aspect of camps, myself, and the way they repel aggressive creatures, not sure if it really works, but seems like it.

Ah , well I would say this class is broken - actually check that - this class is unfinished . There is a TON of stuff that needs to be added to fill up this profession .

Having said that , the Rangers Trapping bonus is excellent and the only thing I would consider getting Ranger at all for . The trap ( I would say traps if all but ONE trap didn't suck ass ) is very reliable and consistent at Master Trapper and works against even the very very difficult MOBs like Kimogilas and such . And trapping is easy to run up - I mean EEEEEEEEEZZZZZ . Got all four of my boxes in a matter of a few hours just slowing and kiting big red con mobs without ranged attacks .

Hrrrm what else ... the additional creature knowledge is pretty worthless , the returns on improved harvesting are a joke and not even close to being worth the skill points invested AND the wayfaring stuff is good only to combat our rubberbanding / teleport bug that hits us after we go into prone . I dunno maybe it's a bit better than that .

My template is getting tight so I'll be giving up the majority of my skills in Ranger soon . In fact I'll be getting rid of every single one except Trapping and I can assure you I won't miss them one bit .

Good luck and have fun with your girl ( a girlfriend that likes on-line games ? Where do I get one ??? )

By the way the creature to hit bonus is worthless , too because it only works on Ranged standard attacks .

So , unless you like chewing through all three of a MOBs HAM bars instead of focusing on one with specials, that's another worthless aspect of Ranger for the scrapheap .

Have fun !

I would suggest that you get Ranged Defense III. It has the BEST attack in the game: Warning Shot.

Agree totally.

I do like the Ranger class, I have a lot of fun playing "the laconic scout" and roaming around by myself in the wild, scorning the crowded cities. I do wish we had some kind of tracking ability, though. Everyone can use the bleeping radar for goodness sake, we should be able to do better than that.

I enjoy being a Ranger. Yes, there are problems associated with some of our abilities and improvements that can be made. I look forward to the day when the Ranger is all that it can be and other classes appreciate their usefullness.
