/areatrack barely works.
I scanned the other day on dantooine, I got something like this
Huurton (NW 200)
Voritor (S 460)
Piket (baby) (NE 300)
so then I walk NE and as soon as I walk about 100m, I hit a graul mauler.....
It tends to leave out lots of stuff and stuff spawns when you move too.

I suppose you are right, making overts stick out would be too easy and ruins your ability to perform your own recon while overt

Touché Nraas. That's about the only sensible reason I've heard yet. though it still doesn't explain how we know their name...
I am not for adding faction scanning to the areatrack command. I think it works fine as it is. I was simply playing devil's advocate on that single point, which you countered nicely.

"whether or not they're aggro (dot/namecolor) from tabbing them at 70m?"
Ah... But that system is more like the Radar, an attempt to portray the other senses into a visual medium. Aggressive Intent could be gauged by body manner and facial expression for instance, and portrayed in the game by the "red name".
Now... Unless all imperials wore the same type of boot, it might be difficult to determine faction from a person's tracks (though maybe they are required to have the Imperial insignia stamped on their soles
).
