Yes, I have a few questions:
1. Can you only use this if you are a scout?
2. After you sample the initial amount - does it keep going just like artisan sample? So you can keep doing it indefinitely? Or can you only use it once for a specific resource every few hours?
3. Does the amount you get scale based on the planet you are on?
4-6 units may not seem like a lot - but of say, tat avian, it definitely is. Also if this thing can sample indefinitely it is open to AFK sampling exploits. The harvester/artisan sampling metaphor only applies if we are are the equivalent of harvesters - which we are not. Harvester's strength likes in the fact that they can consistently pull a high amount at a steady rate and they do it non-stop. There is no way we can do that, or would want to.
If it is only usable by scouts, well, okay, but I am still unhappy about the AFK thing. If it only can take one sample of a specific resource then I am content that it will allow us to quickly home in on a good resource. That does feel a little cheap though. I'd have to say I am on the fence for that one. I'll have to think on it further. If it scales based on planet, meaning you would get 4-6 units on Dath but only 1 unit on tat... I am still unhappy about the AFK thing.

Incidentally, as a very proud Master Ranger, there is part of me that wants to panic at this, but I'm going to hold it back. Even if it does go live, and it *does* give you an actual physical sample (which would defy logic), it's not *that* much of a threat. It might make ultra-annoying-to-get resources like Tatooine Avian meat easier to get (and lower our prices), but on the other hand, it would make unltra-annoying-to-get resource like Tatooine Avian meat to get and increase bulk availability.
If this is really something they're going to introduce, and it *does* work like other sampling, maybe it'll be so the higher your scouting level, the more you get off of it.

Sounds like it might just be an artifact left in since beta....

There currently is an item which is also a reward for the Force Sensitve Quests that is reported to provide a +900 Mind Buff for 1.5hours. Currently it appears this is an item with infinite uses.
In true star wars fasion "I have a bad feeling about this"
I will however, await calc's return before making any serious assumptions.

You're confusing yourself with a bio engineer.. Again.. We just *wack* the creatures to death, we don't use dirty needles to sneakilly make them topple over...
Mad.

well i like the Survey part. Dont like the sample able to be retrived. Dont like the Artisens getting it.(Srry guys/and Gals But i also dont want to make my own clothes/armor/weapons)
Survey device would be able to go In thr IPSD i would imagine.
I personaly see Pros and cons. I think it would be done in away that would ruin it. Make it too easy and i wont like it. But to send out a Droid to sample. would boost the DE prof a bit.
Hide x #of planets= that many droids. Now figure each type of hide/meat/bone thats alot of droids. Asked a few MBH before if the droid are worth the money. Most think its not. That i have talked to.
I think it should be a ranger tool. Srry Scouts.

1. I think its the other way around, you can use it only if you have novice artisan. (When I dropped it, I couldn't use it.) Just like other survey devices. TBH, I didn't try it with novice scout only, since it didn't occour to me.
2. Yes, it does. Its eminently macroable, subject to any new 'afk macros are going away' developments. BTW, I will believe that when I see it. With the track record of SEO dev team, I'd say they are more likely to shoot themselves and all of their customers in the foot that get it right in the first try.
3. I was sampling on Dath only & tried it only a few times to see if it worked. As it happened, the concentrations were fairly high (close to 80% in some cases), and I got samples of size 8-16.
I have a few screenshots of the thing in action if anyone is interested, but it is really very similar to regular survey with the exception of the type of end product.
Incidently, this is one of the possible rewards you can get for completing these series of quests, because some people got a survey device that can sample any _inorganic_ resource.

Calc, I hope you're looking into this. We're all biting our lips for the moment ..but it seems as if the evidence is there. Please give us the lowdown a.s.a.p on this situation.
