I have one suggestion that's easy for the developers to understand.
Can the Ranger be made into a useful tool for PvP and the GCW?
I suggest giving CH's back some bite, making Rangers the people to take them out with offensive and defensive creature bonuses, and also giving Rangers real camoflauge with radar invisibility.

This ablilty allows a ranger to stop all radar systems working using electrical dust particles to cloud the radar. The effect is that there are literally hundered of red dots on the radar alltabable and possibly a cloud or dust storm effect to limit visuals. Although extremely costly to the rangers and bringing him/her out of stealth/infiltration/pathfinder modes it will allow the advancing assault team to 'charge' the base and use assault tactics.
Possibly this skill effect both attacking and defensive sides making it harder to see and target. Maybe the only people it doesnt effect is Squad Leader who can force you to switch targets and lock onto true targets. There is lots of possiblilities with this skill coupled with squad leader abilities.
I just had a thought on the idea about Disrupting Comms...in addition to this, wouldn't it be cool if it could be used in PvP to cause all chat channels of the opposing players in a certain radius of the rangerother than spatial to quit working and/or to be scrambled? This could bea very useful skill to keep the defenders of a PvP base from calling in backup, and to prevent/hamper coordination of defenses or attacks.
Other than that, my only comment on the original post is wow! Great job Owen!

Yeah hehe thats the orginal idea is was writing up but then i thought how the hell they gonna stop people from chatting? I just couldnt seea way of doing it so instead i went for the idea you quoted. I love the idea of distrupting comms in any form though, its an idea i'd realy like to see develope, it has lots of potential.

We miss you too Delta. It gets lonely with only one Corr to harass.

Delta, isn't it great to know that if you ever have an over-abundance of self-confidence, you can just swing by the Ranger forum, make one or two posts and instantly have 50 people making sure you never forget the "typo heard 'round the world"

Although I do think the ideas Owen-Lars gave were pretty cool, I do have some concerns with them.
I posted them in response to how I suggest PvP to work with Rangers in my "Ranger Revamp Idea" thread. In retrospect I could have just posted my views on these ideas here, but I didn't.
I put them after the first large post if you would like to read them.

Will do mate. But please understand the ideas presented in this post were just off the top of the head things i didnt even think about. Those who have read some previous posts will know when i get thinking i normally end up writting a god damn book on each system.
The purpose of the ideas in regards to this thread was to better visualise in a way the roles of a ranger in various aspects of the game, most notably groups, creature hunting and GCW. Theconcept was you just scan over the ideas to get a better picture of whata ranger should be viewed as, what a ranger should be 'expected' to do and other people's opinons of us not realy to present a proposal (far too short for that
).

To try and keep it purely combat related, here goes.
Things I would like to see implemented in the near future, in priorit of personal preference.
1. /track implemented. As in Owen-Lars most recent full description of it, with seperate areas for normal animals and rare/boss ones.
2. Creature defence/offence modifiers. Creature Damage reduction or a Creature Toughness. A damage modifieragainst creatures to any ranger of any combat type. There have been many posts on this.
3. Poison/Disease Resist. Not just against creatures, but against ANY kind of disease/poison. This is because the stuff delivered by a CM is made from animals that we have building up immunity to. And this gives us a small roll in GCW.
4. Some actual ranger traps, adding much more, redoing the Sonic Trap since it delivers Dizzy. For ideas on types of traps please reference the Outdoorsman. Don't need the modular traps right away, but at least the types of traps discussed.
5. Harvesting bonus.
6. At Tracking/Field BioScience 1 able to harvest 2 resources from creatures. At Master able to harvest 3 resources from one creature.
7. Ability to have all of our abilities, including avove mentioned, to work on CH pets. Thusly, our defences, our damage bonus, our traps, all of our "normal" creature stuff to work against CH pets. This not only just makes sence, especially if they are going to make us totally creatures centric, but gives us a roll in the GCW.

You never fail to impress me with the constant flow of good ideas!
/salute Owen (and the rest of the idea wizards!)
I'm mostly a PvEman myself and like the PvE stuff, and especially the PvE Group stuff, beeing realy useull in a group situation would bring the game to a new level for me!
And I realy like the items in PvP that relies on interaction with other proffs, if anything is going to get me involved in PvP/GCW it would be introduction of elements that mean you realy have to think group tactics. Proper recon/espionage/sabotage, shuttling "wounded" people out to MASHes, bringing reserves in, regrouping and rallypoints. All facilitated by the non-combat proffs - us, Medic/CM, SL, Smugglers, crafters etc. (hey, maybe even ID/Tailor for some espionage stuff!).
I would like to be usefull (more than we are now...have seen some good posts on PvP use of /areatrack etc.) in the GCW not only by providing the materials for armor, buffs and other PvP supplies, but actually doing something usefull before/during/after the actual battle. I think you're going in that direction with this post!
Keep up the good work!

6. At Tracking/Field BioScience 1 able to harvest 2 resources from creatures. At Master able to harvest 3 resources from one creature.
Ah yeah, that would indeed be very cool. Harvesting all 3 would enable us to add grind resources to our 'goods for sale' list. Do you think 2 resources should be available at tracking 1 though considering how many dabblers we have just in the tracking line? Another option would be to go from 1 resource straight to 3 at master instead of granting an additional bonus in tracking line.
I say this because how many rangers here have 'considerable' order requests for bone? If you could harvest any two from a creature what would they be? Hide and meat ofcourse. I just cant see the master rangers being able to harvest then ALL which will essentially mean being able to harvest bones as well as the other 2 as a very attractive bonus for getting master.
Id be happy either way, dont get me wrong

In the past, it had been suggested that adding the ability to harvest a second resource at Frontiering 3 or 4 would be the best way to prevent the tracking line from becoming even more powerful.

ah yeah that would be cool, it would offset the SP requirements in the camp line until they get some love. Great stuff
