A real Ranger would be happy to have an MRE (Meal Rejected by Everyone). Even the first generation, with the meat patty dehydrated (aka freaking hockey puck from hell).
Really real Rangers would even eat the ham and mofos C ration. Then brag about it, as they got the pound cake as a dessert.
However, under no circumstances would any Ranger eat babyheads (apricots, canned w/ juice).

who, if hard pressed, can still remember the order of meals in the C ration case, which of course, were always opened upside down

I had my first (and possibly last) experience of an IHOP in Houston of all places the other day. A restaurant that i can fairly confidently say would not do very well in the UK.
I had a Regular Combo Funnel Cake Carnival which comes with strawberrys and cream a picture of which can be found here. It was quite tasty... Never had a funnel cake'afore...
