Who cares about baseball, just some twisted version of rounders, it is even more borring then socker or team handballNo, American Football is the only true sport and luckily they will soon start transmitting games to us here in Denmark.

GO COWBOYS!
You all need to get on board and love up the most watched and loved sport in the world; Football.
And no im not talking about that steroid fueled game where (not really suprising) feet barely ever come close to a ball and where suposedly 'tough' guys play a dumbed-downversion of rugby but with added comical difference that they also wear armour.
Football is the number one sport in the world for a reason, because its the best ![]()
Come on the Whites.

American Football is poorly named, yet infinately more fun for me to watch than soccer. Though since I do have a number of friends from the EU and UK, I have begun calling soccer "footie". Though it will never be football for me. The amount of power a good coach has and the fact that there is time for strategy, trickery and unique plays. Soccer is more spur of the moment, non-stop action. It's like dropping a bunch of kids in a candy store then telling them that half of them have to kick a ball one way and the other half the other way. It's chaos.
Football and baseball games often come down to the skill of the coaching staff. A good steal call in baseball can win a game, a good pitching change can win a series. In Football, coaching staff makes a HUGE amount of difference. Look at the success of Bill Parcels or Bill Belichick. Both amazing coaches who've taken down and out teams and made somthing more of them.
I'm not sure about soccer, but I rarely hear even the most dedicated soccer fans talking about how a particular coach can make them win.
You should come to England then mate, youll find EVERY fan admitting the game is won and lost on field but the results come from the manager and his coaching staff.
There is an incredible amount of planning involved in Football and Rugby too and if you loose games, it falls on the manager. Chelsea won the league last year because of their manager. Scumchester United won the treble a few years back because of drunk git Fergie. The manager and his coaching staff are the ones that make a successfull team, the ones that play the right strategy to win a game and the ones that ultimatly create the stars in the game.
American Football is far too ridgid and slow for me, there is no natural flow of skill. Its all stop, plan, wait, boom, over, done. Football is just non-stop action from start to finish. Football is called world wide "the beutiful game"simply because itscombination of action, skill, strategy, athletisism and showboating, its just minute after minute of utter entertainment. In many regards its a totally differenttype of sport to American Football.
The similarities come between Rugby and AmericanFootball. The differences that imo makesrugby a much greater sport is thatthe players on the field make the decisions, decide the 'plays' and all in the moment and reactive to each second of play. There is no stop and starting aswe generally go through around 5 of your standard plays in under 30 seconds but many going on for longer and knocking on the higher figures of around 15 at a time. The ball turns over and bam back up again. There is no changing of players except a perminent substitution or bloodbin (excessive bleeding causes a temp swap of player whilst the injured guy gets medical attention then back on) so each player on the field has to be superb at both offensive and defensive areas of the game. Oh and we dont wear armour or helmets ![]()
Now if American Football was changed so there were no rests between 'plays', players couldnt wear padding or helmets, you had one team for the duration plus subs for a match and the players on the field had to adapt by the second then that would be onevery very exciting game. But ofcourse you would then be playing rubgy hehe.
As a spindly 14 year old I ran around a corner near the Harbor in Oak Bluffs, Marthas Vineyard (lots of sports stars come in with their hugemongous yaghts there), and ran straight into one. I think I landed about 5 feet away on the pavement - just bounced right off.
He made a joke out of it by picking me up (literally) and dusting me off, asking if I was ok. I must have come barely halfway up his chest. He was a monster. Trying to imagine what it would feel like to have this guy bodyslam me at full speed and do his best to put me on the ground made me realize that it would probably break every bone in my body. I've never looked down on those guys for wearing armor.
before you criticize a sport (or anything, i guess) you have to understand it completely, but soccer takes a while to understand, so lots of people just say it sucks.
eventually i think soccer in the US will catch on and be as big as, say, poker. ![]()
