Ok, it's Breeding, not breading. Breading is what you put on pork chops and veal.

Second, who wants to be a freaking farmer? Go play Sim Farm... get poopy on your boots. I kill 'em, I don't raise them.

Third, tame my happy butt, see number 2, killing and harvesting is our game.

Suggest you read old posts and do searches. Stops a lot of flames

Even I had to make a double-take on that one.

I am a Master Ranger, trained to not onlysurvive in the most deadly badlands, but to thrive, by blending into the environment and elevate myself to bethe most silent anddeadly predator on the planet.

And this should include an expect knowledge of trapping which could include ground traps. Rangers are survivlists and trappers to a very large degree, so they should be able to develope large traps which are also ground based to trap animals whilst not in the general vacinity. I know this is just wrapping automated harvesters up in another shinny rangerish coat but it makes sense.

We dont want harvesters that pull meat out of the ground or out of thin air, so whats the problem with spending a while setting up an animal trap that you leave behind and come back to it at the end of the hunting session for a bonus?

It wouldnt take over hunting, infact if designed correctly it should involve a certain amount of knowledge, skill and hunting ability to set up, it would simply be a bonus on top of hunting and one which i feel fits well with the hunting/trapping side of a ranger.

I dont think we should be primarily hunters, but more like pathfinders with our skills suporting both sides. Our survivalist and trapping and hunting roles would only be enhanced by this sort of trap which im not sure about anyone else but whenitry to visualise my idea of a ranger, ground based trapping is definatly a component. It just makes sense that a ranger would cover as much hunting zone as possible in order to increase the yeild of his/her hunt. This would be done by leaving behind ground based traps that trap creatures whilst the ranger is in a another zone exploring or hunting.

good idea Mr Lars.

also area trackking should become a bigger part of it. as you would do looking for any resorce you would look for the highest amount in the area, so you can gain the best outcome.

ummm...but you can't "survey" animals, naruto...

right now it's pretty easy...find an area where the harvests are "fat and healthy" and stay there.

again, I agree with Owen-- it would have to be implemented correctly. I still say there should be a chance of being hurt (a pissed off bear that breaks out of a trap would do some damage to a hunter). Perhaps a random roll such that when you return, a large animal may have been caught in your little trap and is now going to chew on your head? Oh, and the creature levels they can trap have to be small. Nobody should be able to trap a rancor. Anything above level 45 or so shouldn't be able to be trapped.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Sounds good phen and yeah i love the idea of the trap having a chance at going wrong. Perhaps it gets more risky as time goes on, so the long you leave it out, the more chance you have at getting your head chewed off when you return?

I agree with the levels too, keep it small but the large beast that eats you if things go wrong should be something of a beast and be able to kick ass

exactly Owen. I want the creature on a "bad" roll to be able to break you like a twig. Kind like setting out a rabbit trap and coming back to findthe Abominable Snowman in your trap.

Basically, if things go right, trapping should be asmall bonus to a good hunting session, if things go wrong....chomping time. The longer you leave it out the more likely you're gonna come back to find a big nasty on your butt....that soundsgood.
