Instead of going up Smuggler, just Master Pistoleer instead. It's much easier, especially with Fanshot. You can take on tons of mobs at once since it's an AOE effect and high damage. You'll need the speed mods too. I rarely use last ditch, lowblow, or panic shot in PVE. Usually it's pistolmeleedefense1 and fanshot.

Honestly 90% of what your killing will be down before you bleed it out.It was diffrent before the bleed stacking nerf. If your gonna make a living at it, your gonna want speed and your not gonna want to mess around too much with FD. The ranger to hit bonus is gonna take care of your aiming concerns. You may wanna take a look at the proposed combat changes and ask yourself what you see yourself doing, and how you want to play I'm master Pistoleer/ranger and all I can say is it works well. I look at what you have proposed and I see it lacking some of what makes it work well

Ya, I can back the pistoleer claims up. there are plenty of ways to bleed something without having to use feign death. plus the bleeds now are very weak. They upped the inital dammage of bleed shots, but lowered the bleed itself. Unless you are extremely partial to Smuggler, put more skills into pistoleer, or use the skills you would have used for unarmed and put them in rifle and work on a combo of Ranger/pistoleer/rifleman. Fanshot is incredibly useful as well as melee defense.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm probably going to go with pistoleer. Probably won't master it, because my character'sRP storyrequires that I have some sword skills, but I'll go as high as I can. Thanks everyone for the feedback.

So, I see people posting what they are going to do or have done, so here's mine.

Master Scout -> Master Ranger / Master CH, with Novice Medic and Marksman 4000.

What do ya think?

Iconic professions. Ok. Chewbacca was a Scout. How come that didn't stay?

When you think about it, aren't almost all of the original professions iconic? You can find something on each of them in the Expanded Universe.

I miss being a Ranger. It was more than a profession, it was a virtual way of life. It wasn't for everyone. But those who took it up became family.

Interesting template, to maximise your damage I would highly recomend a post CU, krayted, Advanced Laser Rifle. The only requirement is CL54 and they have a base dps in the 300-320 range. I have one, it is a very nice weapon, I like it lots

Why don't you try: MR, MCH, and BH 0300

With BH 0300 you get Improved Critical Shot. Using an Adv. Laser Rifle with that special can hit for around 1700. If you have a doctor to Adrenaline Boost you then you can fire that rifle off once every couple of seconds.

I have a pre-CU laser rifle that I'm using currently. It hits for nice damage.

The BH thing sounds interesting. I'll look into that when I get back home. Over friend's house now calming down from the midnight showing of Episode 3.

I played with that template all night yesterday and it's very effective in group scenarios where you have someone tanking, your critters are gnawing away, and you're firing critical shot from a safe distance. You have VERY high DPS -- and I didn't even try it with the Female Narglatch trifecta with combined damage of 900+. This template is definitely a keeper for me.
