I have seen this wonderful "bug?" it was actually pointed out to me by someone who wanted a large quanity of milk harvested.. things i have discovered..
you can milk the creature while live, and then again once it's dead
you can milk dead creatures that you cannot normaly milk while alive (piket protectors and piket longhorns for example)
the /harvest milk works the same as the other harvests so veghash will increase the yield..
if yer going to milk near piket protectors you should be wearing armor in case your mask scent wears off..

I might have to try this some time. However, why would you want to get only the milk when you can milk the creature then harvest either hide, meat or bone from it thus ful-filling two needed resource contracts at one time.
With regard to amount of milk harvested .. aside from Fumbabaa on Naboo which are terrible to try to milk becaause even with camo on they are skittish and move around too much so I don't even bother ... Pickets have provided me with the highest yeild per creature for wild milk ... I use vegash and get anywhere from 60 to over 100 units (I think 118 was highest) off of a single Picket. Also, if you kill the Fierce Picket Protector in order to be able to kill the females and tap the nest, DON'T havest off him ... he respawns immediately or within a minute or two ... if you let his corpse rot there, you will be safe for at least 5-15 mins. And don't kill him when he is close to the females either because they will join in the fight. They often will move 30+ meters away from the females, and if you position yourself on the side of him away from the female at least 40-50 meters from him, then the females will be out of range and won't follow him to fight you.
The Lesser Bols on Dantooine give a low yield of domesticated milkper creature, but their nest has a high creature spawn rate and they are extremely easy to kill. So they are perfect for scouts with low level traps and no camo just mask or if you have a low combat skill.
The Eopies on Tatooine have a descent creature spawn rate but also a low milk yield. The milk type varies you can get both domestic and wild milk off of these depending on which type of creature spawns Domesticated Eopie (domesticated) or Junland Eopie (wild milk).
The Khamurra's are a bear because two types spawn out of a single nest and one type will attack and kill the other ... very odd that one. Plus their nests don't spawn very many creatures. Paralopes spawn like rabbits from their nestsand are easy to kill ... they usually drop before they even reach you for a hit.
Milking can be a lot of fun and has provided me and my friends with some of our more hysterical moments in game. ... lol ... okay enough rambling on my part!

Why double milk? 100 CPU or more that's why. good quality milk pays very well.
