Thread: I really hope that Ranger will become a viable combat profession in it self...

Although after reading about the Camo scout armor used by rangers in SW EU that serves to provide the Predator-like stealth ability, I would rather that than a low-tech ghillie suit. I dont want to look like a wookie unless I am a wookie.

The ghillie suit idea, originally in the Outdoorsman, was used with a new ability called /combatconceal, which would make us invisible and drop us from the Radar. Removing us from the radar would make us un-tabable certainly, but I'm not sure if you can remain visual in the game if you're not on the Radar. i believe if you're untabable, you must also be invisible.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Guys, guys! You know I already worked out all that stealth stuff.

That is a PvP role I would be comfortable with.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

Meh, guess I posted this to the wrong place. Here goes the cut'n paste:

My ideal Ranger tree would be half-combatant and half-"crafter".

Combatant in that Trapping and Wayfaring should give Rangers a definate advantage in PvE and PvP combat. I was always of the mind that if we learn to trap and conceal ourselves from animals during our time as Scouts, then as Rangers we should learn to apply those skills against humanoid (NPC and Player) opponents. Obviously not all Rangers share that opinion for some reason. I, for one, am NOT happy that after taking a more than 6 month hiadus that I come back to find that we have yet to get ANY more traps added to our "Advanced" Trapping line.

I don't feel that we should get a Ranger specific weapon certification or traps that actually inflict damage in PvP, but the Status Effects should be a viable attack to use in PvE and PvP environments.

"Crafter" would be found in our Frontiering and Tracking lines. Foraging should be able to supply us with comparable to Artisan level foodstuffs while Tracking for hire and subsequent harvesting of animals would be our monkeymaker.

Over all, I believe that Rangers should be the ultimate suppliers of Creature Harvestable goods and that we should be able to provideuniqueand meaningfull support in PvP.
