Thread: Kauri Rangers Need Your Help

Uhm, calm down.
Deep breath.
Get over it.
For some time the ranger forum, that is, the forum for discussing the profession as it affects us, the ranger community, has been full to overflowing with "find me the pirate" "find me the boar" "find me whichever FOTM quest creature". Requests of varying degrees of politeness, some quite nice, some pretty abrasive.
This is 'our' forum. It helps to be able to discuss aspects of the profession here, to attempt to organise a few ranger related things which help strengthen the community and for new rangers to be able to come in and get info related to their profession.
Just because some other forums have trade posts in them doens't make it 'right' for here.
After some months of frustration the community itself asked our correspondent to put up a sticky pointing out (in much the same terms as is pointed out 'officially' on the trade forums) what this forum is about, what is and what is not appropriate.
On the whole you will find rangers to be helpful, considerate, patient and yes, interested in making a bit of monkey. But, while you were treated a little robustly... no, actually, having gone back and read the initial responses, I'd say you were treated firmly and with slightly barbed humour, I really can't see how you hope to win people round to your side of the argument by whinging about it.
You made your offer. You may have got some responses offlist. Good. All sorted now? Grand.
Now, lets get back to what we were doing before a trade post sent everything on edge.
*** Was going to edit this and tone it down, having just read SlickBantha's later posts. (Don't worry, things are just a bit testy round these parts at the moment, in part due to that JtL thing, the new FS grind, various mundane, tedious quest targets and the fact we need a seriously BIG party. SOON. )
Am leaving the wording as it is, but it's now directed at... you know who you are!

Go to the trade forums. Like every other proffession board, this forum community is designed to discuss issues, relevant facts, debates, ideas and other matter that directly pertain to the RANGER PROFESSION. It is not a trade forum.
You're not the first one to pull this stunt. We get about 5-10 posts a week from people who think it's a good idea to post a request for a product in a non-trade forum. It isn't. It fills our board with posts that are useless.
For everyone else (which is most of us)...there's the trade forums, just like it says in the sticky that you were too busy too read.
You're using one of a limitied number of spots on the front page, dropping a potentially good post so that we can hunt for you? It's rude in my opinion. The other thing is that we've been so annoyed by people doing this recently, we added a "This is nota trade forum" thread...and stickied it too the top. The fact that you breazed by it makes it even worse.
Bit harsh, repeating basically (go away to another forum), and it was very noticable i think that you were trying to hold back.. why get so upset when i had said nothing directly to you other than trying to find some help when the rangers IG ignore me long before i ever even ask for help with anything. I will post a list of names from kauri if you would like of only Master Rangers that wont so much as respond to a Hello or Hi directed to them when there 2 feet away and just got done talking to someone else. I was only looking for another option as you all well know finding avian meat (even trying to buy) is a horribly long process that delays the game for days or weeks at a time rangers are our answer to that except when you cant find any that will so much as speak to you.
The post i responded to so nicely wasnt cause he was saying i was right about posting or taking my side i know he wasnt but only because he said as nicely as he could that i shouldnt be on this post. Yours came off as a big flamming trying to gently chew me out for the posting. He had some respect at the same time as telling me i was in the wrong or mistaken for posting here.

Depends on what level artisan you really want.
As a Master Ranger, you have enough skillpoints left over for 1 elite combat class. That's the basic one, (TKM, Rifleman,etc...not BH/Commando) mind you. After that, you get 18 whoping skillpoints left over.
If what you want is to be a purely resource hunter, I'd got TKM/Ranger/Artisan 0004. TKM is significantly faster and harder-hitting than TK 4444, and unarmed hit 3 is an excellent attack, aside from the HAM costs. This, of course is if you're trying to be Master Ranger. The best resource hunter without Master Ranger would be Ranger 0040, TKM or Rifleman and as much of artisan as you wanted. This gives you the best of the harvesting ability, as well as good combat skills, and you can survey pretty well if you go to artisan 0004.
It's really up to you. If you want to collect lots of resources, you really don't need Ranger at all. It's a nice bonus, but if you maximize your DPS, you might find that, per hour, you get more resources than with a Master Ranger. Especially with veghash and a good droid.
Most Rangers choose Medic or Creature Handler with their left over points, but to each their own. If you really want resources, just pay a noob artisan to run survey droids and just plop down harvestors. A Master Ranger/Rifleman can place the same harvies a Master Architect can.
It's gonna come down to the way you want to play, but just know that all of our harvesting bonuses in Ranger are currently in the tracking tree, so if that's all you care about, that's all you have to get
BTW a BH/Ranger is less effective in combat than a TKM/Ranger. I know firsthand. You don't have enough SP to master both anyway. You can only master one, and then do 7 boxes of the other (in two lines) so I suggest not going BH/Ranger unless you really need to track down your targets.
