It wasnt anything special. Look I'll just shorten it down to what I was trying to say. But keep in mind it was 1am and I was tired.
We as a community seemed to have gotten a little bitter and flaming as of late, well excluding today really. We have been flaming anybody looking for a Ranger and a lot of the posts have been very negative. This seems to be because we have become the non-pvp FOTM. And it seems to have effected the whole ranger community. Which is the reason we are rangers because of the community as a whole. Because without the community what do we really have left the profession? And we all know where those threads lead. So I said that I had planned on stopping my flaming of the "looking for the oyster farmer" posts and was turning over a new leaf. And was asking the community to work on going back to the way we were.
See why I edited it?

So you edited it because it was too truthful? Everyone has been a little uppity lately. I had noticed it myself, but couldn't think of a tactful way to put it. As far as flaming people, it is bad policy. Try to either post nice or not at all (y'all can call me dad from now on). It is fine to be blunt, but avoid the extra comments that get tacked on...

OK, I missed the original post, so I don't know just how 'preachy' you'd got BUT even I had noticed that we're all getting a little sharp in the tooth round here. I blame the serious lack of dev love, of course, plus the relentless blithering about how JtL is going to save the day/be the worst thing since the last worst thing.

Gentle Rangers, and the other one,
We are, when all is said and done, the ultimate elite profession. NOT because we've got the biggest fastest weapons, the flashiest specials or even the ability to sing and dance, but because WE are Rangers.
THere are things that need fixing in the game. Anyone who doesn't see that is either deluding themselves or has just opened the box. There are things that need addressed in our profession just as in many other professions. But RANGERS somehow manage to make it thru. We learn the limitations and even find ways to make them work for us.
We've been known for out stoicism, our helfulness and our maturity. Good grief, it's only a month or three since the "Rangers are the True Jedi" post was up and it wasn't just members of this profession that felt that way.
Yeah, we get our share of trade posters and wannabe-leet dudes looking for that elusive macro, and no, they don't read the sticky. Lets face it, if they were interested in learning enough to have gone and READ something instead of just asking for somebody to instantly grant them the 'Golden Key" they'd not be posting.
Let them go. Ignore them. They're the kreetles of forum life.
Away back when I was just a greenhorn scout I asked a dumb question on their forum. And I got flamed. OK, I got two maybe three posts pointing out that it was a dumbassed question there was a guide, go look at it. And I felt hurt, really didn't like those folk for being so mean and nippy. But I went off and read the sticky, read the guides, decided in what I thought was a GREAT personal protest that I'd do Scout 'the hard way' and to Hell with them and their secret macros....
Am not saying that the kreetles aren't a pain in the ass, but lets face it, squish one and an other will be along later, just as clueless. You can get mad about it or just rise above it. Y'know you can, you're a RANGER.
And yeah, sometimes folk post suggestions and polls and outright ludicrous dumbassed ideas... but, give them the respect you'd want for yourself. Give them teh respect you'd expect FROM a Ranger.
And I guess that goes for our exchanges between each other. Folks, we're family. We squabble sometimes, but Heaven help anyone that attacks one of us. Pick apart somebodies idea or suggestion, make your own suggestion or share a little knowledge from 'before', just don't get personal on each other?
I'd hate to see this forum being 'policed' by the Off Topic brigade. I love the way it ebbs and flows and we all seem to know each other, to the extent that folk ask, in game, if we know another Ranger and we've got to remind ourselves that we've only ever talked in here or at the GRM's.
Anyway, that's just me saying how I feel, and, having this week lost fully six regular contacts from the game, Im gonna embarrass myself now and just say that I think you guys (in the non-gender specific inclusve sense) are the best.
I'd give any of you space at my fireside. And not JUSt because you are Rangers.

Paks,
Go to your local books store spend $14 on the "More then Complete Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy". Its all 5 books in the trilogy (with a bonus 6th short story) and it will cost $1 more then the re-release of the first book. Since its FINALLY being made into a major motion picture. And Disney is spending a bunch to do it. Douglas Died a couple may's ago at the age of 52. A lot of us will miss him. Read the first book, or watch the TV show on DVD/VHS, or find the radio series. And we will talk more.
The number 42 is simply the answer to life the universe and everything. The ultimate question, which takes 7 million more years to come up with is "What is 9 times 6". Why is this? The opening line from book two contains the answer
"If everyone understood the answer to life the universe and everything. The world as we know would cease to exist and something even stranger would form in its place. Some say this has already happened". Its a very british sci-fi comedy. Trust me read it and you'll love it. Its a very quick read about a man whos house is demolished for a highway bypass and then the earth is for a hyperspace bypass.
Almagill,
I couldnt have said it better myself. Thats the reason we do it because we aren't uber. Thats why I was upset to see the forums degread. Because if we have to lean on our profession for being the reason we get master ranger. Well then we're screwed
Calc,
Life as a correspondent looks like hell. You know I want to be one. But man you have done justice in following the very large footsteps of Nraas. And you have kept us where we are. Your the reason we keep pushing. Now organize that coup so we can get started camping the servers to death
