Well, I see no sign of change, and I think I will be moving on to EQ2 later this year when it's released. It is too bad that SOE will still be getting my money, but at least Lucas will get a little less, perhaps prompting some changes in who he allows to use his goods.

Keep in mind that the CB is a change that will most certainly affect every player in the game (to different degrees).
JTL is also something that will effect every player in the game, whether you buy the expansion or not. Since I am not in Beta I am still waiting breathlessly (with blinders on) to see what these changes will be. Also, I think Jedi is something that effects every player, since every player has the potential to become a Jedi.

Okay, so most of us choose not. I WILL say however, that I think Jedi has a bad name and leaves a bitter taste in the mouth not because of the profession itself - but because the majority of the people in that profession are power-gaming jerks.
Er, back to the original subject. Neglect. Everyone feels it - you see it mentioned constantly on just about every profession board (or maybe I just like the gimpy ones
Blah blah blah. Typical fuzzy wookiee nonsense. I had such a bad work week last week that I wore my combat boots in today - so watch out!

Well, to put things in perspective, I AM in jtl beta, and I don't think it will save the game. While it is a VERY good flight simulator, it is exactly that. I think a lot of people will take off right away, but they will quickly get a little bored of it, and the ground game will continue. There isn't enough to do up there to keep you off the ground indefinately.

The intention is NOT to replace the ground game (the devs are actively trying to prevent replacing the ground game). Nor is JTL supposed to save the game. JTL was a dev dream since long before the ground game went live even. JTL allows you to play another aspect of the Star Wars universe...space.
I might argue that the Combat Upgrade is meant to save the game, BUT does the game need saving? It needs to stay fresh to retain customers, but it is not in the crapper yet.

But that's what the combat revamp, GCW revamp, etc are for. The later updates should affect both the ground game and the space game, adding a better reason to keep playing. JTL is meant to add a space flight portion to the game, not to make the ground game obsolete. Both are meant to be important and I'm guessing that future development will add more content to both.

Well, since there isnt really any content in the game if you have been playing for a while then Jedi has to be your goal. Time consuming. Thats all. More bucks for the big boys.
I hope that the rumors over LucasArts taking over things are true. SWG is sadly lacking in content. What did we have? 3 major publishes for jedi in a row? Now we get JTL to change the combat to twitch instead of skill based. Keeps the bucks flowing in for another month. Honestly there wont be anything decent for a publish til after the combat rebalance.
We need content. I have no clue why I log in each day. I am piddling into Rifleman again and doing that at a snails pace just cause I have no enthusiasm anymore. If not for the friends I have made I would probably cancel.
Yes, Ranger needs revamping but the whole damn game needs love. I just wonder why there isnt a writer on their staff instead of these half-assed attempts at quests being made.

The statement that there is no content is purely an opinion. There are plenty of things you can do (yes, Jedi is meant for the powergamers, to tide them over since the powergamed their way though most of the stuff that is available). Content comes in many forms: you can easily make your own content (form a krayt hunting party and do it old school...no buffs and/or armor), there are tons of mini quests, and I know that there might be a weapon in the game the no one has discovered yet. Also, there are two ways to get the Scythe schematic, but only one has been discovered. The content is there, if you put some effort into obtaining it.
How have I kept the game from getting stale?
I have attempted all of the new 'publish' dungeons (still haven't seen all of the caves)
I obtained all of the POI badges
I have tried, but not powergamed, to get the new Hero of Tat badges
I haven't even been to a ractrack yet, so I have that in reserve
I have started from scratch on new servers (by scratch, I mean on TC, so I had no support except for the buds I brought with me.
I have never done the mini-quests that the I-having NPCs give you, so there is a whole loot table I haven't tapped yet.
I have worked on obtaining various loot kit pieces
I could go on and on!
I think when people say there is no content, they really mean that there is no content that appeals to them.

Yeah, your right. Your right is an opinion as well. /sigh. I do sense my own frustration in that post.
I guess whats finally lacking to me is the learning and newness of the game. Which in itself doesnt translate to lack of content. It is an RPG after all where you create a role and play it. I suppose I havent given that my all as yet. I am new to RPG's so I guess my education in this regard is lacking a bit.
Heh.. But, I have to say the idea of doing the Corvette unbuffed and unarmored appeals to me more and more.. lol.
I guess I did the big things but did get a kick out of doing the small quests in Mos Taike for some odd loot items. Woort Casserole(with recipe) got a fine giggle out of me.
Its times like these when I get bored I enjoy donning my full tusken suit and wandering around Tattooine. Guess its time to go wander around the desert a bit.

Wow Kai..I certainly didn't expect THAT response
. If it is any consolation, I have been lecturing people left and right today; I am in one of those moods.
Now, if only I could get my buds to realize that hunting unarmored and unbuffed IS possible and would be fun

I agree that there has been too much emphasis placed on Jedi related stuff recently, but I know that the devs are aware of issues and are busy trying to make additions that will draw in new players as well as make fixes, etc. that will keep the current players. Keep in mind that the CB is a change that will most certainly affect every player in the game (to different degrees). I guess my point is that just becuase there aren't daily publishes doesn't mean that there is no work going on.
I hope that they are indeed planning on slippng in some changes independent of CB. While the CB is all well and good, I don't see it as really being what's broken with our profession. I do think it's important that we can serve some kind of useful function in GCW/groups/PvP, but it seems as though many, if not most, of the changes people are asking for aren't related to these things. Certainly CB will affect our hunting strategies. But I see that as merely a side effect, as opposed to providing ranger-specific perks.
My concern is that JTL launches and then we wait another 9 months for a combat balance to be finished only to discover that we're pretty much in the same spot. Although many of the changes we've requested are pretty elaborate, and would understandably have to wait for significant resources to be freed up, there are a few bones that they could throw us that probably require no more than tweaking a few numbers. The recent "surprise" changes that appeared after the great CB-Delay Exodus show that it's possible, and that the devs are aware they need to appease the player base. Little things people had long-complained about, like shuttle waits and rapid vehicle customization loss, magically were changed one day, even though players had been repeatedly been told that they would not. Minor changes to be sure, but they help to improve a player's overall "quality of life."
It isn't like the ability to harvest more meat than a droid-toting scout would tip the GCW in any faction's favor; it seems silly to wait another x number of months to get that issue addressed. Likewise, changing a trap from applying a useless dizzy effect to some other state effect seems like a pretty simple solution. Granted, that's easy for me to say since I have no idea what's involved. I am just trying to say that they don't need to spend months coding some new command or building art assets to give us some shiny new ranger toy. A few tweaks to what we already have would let us know that Devs are aware we're alive and go a long way toward improving profession satisfaction.

I tried making a list once but it depressed me because I was at work and wanted to go home and log on and start doing some of the stuff. Plus it was long and my hand hurt. A friend of mine who has been playing with us for over a year recently told me I needed to go to "meetings" becuase I was playing on two computers at once. Too much stuff to do!
Last night I did the following:
- Did one of Whip's quests.
- Gave scouting advice to my little brother who is heading towards Master (and dare I say - Ranger?).
- Got a corvette badge.
- Failed miserably at getting another corvette badge... but hand to hand combat was fun with that nova trooper. When they get that close you really should get bonus points for being able to beat them over the head with your T21. I stayed until I had only wounds on my health/action and mind. He killed Thor, my bunny. I needed revenge.
- Chatted with some new entertainers in the Eisley cantina while they healed my poor battered mind.
- Jumped over to Bria to help one of my Radiant guildies make an entertainer for the crawls (actually I think he's there specifically to harass me but its all good
- Killed some durni lairs with my uber pistols 1 skills (trying to earn enough for one of those ent droids).
- Jumped over to Flurry to write a thank you email to someone who had made a friend's second SWG experience an absolute blast! Tidied up her house a bit. Killed some womp rats with a wood staff the green droid gave me. Decided they need a "wiff wiff" noise for all the times you miss. I felt like a Diabllo II Paladin.
- Logged off and surfed the forum a while. Hopefully didn't post anything because bad things happen when I post while only half awake.
The only thing I had planned to do was whip's quest... I didn't even finsh the darn thing. I have to hurry before phase shift - only one more crate to retrieve! That's if I don't go back to the Corvette... I need an engine or some doohicky for the schematic I got. AND Tash needs to make some cash because she blew it all on paintings last week. Dam Twi'leks... I think I'll go home now.
