I have had agood experience in general. I can walk around on Dathomir and not get aggroed except occassionally. The downside is sometimes when it does break I have had a creature aggro from over 64m away amazingly enough. But all in all I think it works well.

I will make this short. I have been Wayfaring IV for several weeks. Mask Scent breaks far more to every type of creature I've encountered than it did prior to the patch. The patch notes said:

"You are now much more likely to successfully mask scent against a creature."

The patch did exactly the opposite by a very large margin.

On Rori the past couple of days.. And I've managed to get enough xp for Wayfaring I (I'm at 0/1/1/0 still.. baby ranger) almost PURELY with maskscent. I was bored so I basically ran the way from the rebel outpost to Narmle.

I mean, yes... sure.. Its a little annoying that 90% of the time when maskscent breaks, I get aggroed. But I'm well stocked on P.darts, so if something aggros on me, I can either choose to pop it one and kill it, or pop it one and run away. I NEVER died.. not even close (hell.. With that killer P.dart, I was soloing ravenous Tortons)

But the xp! It just kept rolling in! I'd make 2 - 300 just by walking past a lair of big mobs! I wasn't in a hunting mood, so I didn't want to bother with the kill/harvest cycle..

Maskscent may be annoying with the aggro rate.. But I'd definitely put it down to asset rather than liability

You are saying it is an asset for you because you are using it to gain scouting XP without grinding baz nitch lairs. If that is your aim, then yes, the fact that /maskscent now gives XP again is an asset, and yes, my maskscent does work on 95% of creatures.

I am a master ranger and I don't need the XP. I would like to use maskscent for what it is meant to be used for, to prevent creatures from noticing me and attacking me. The benefit that only 1 out of 20 creatures can detect me is offset by the fact that when it does detect me, it attacks me.

I'll say it again:

When what I'm really after is avoiding detection - why would I use maskscent and risk the chance of being attacked, when with some prudent navigation I can guarantee that I will not be attacked?

maskscent is worse than worthless.

Since the patch, it seems to have become useful for one thing and one thing alone: gaining INSANE AMOUNTS OF SCOUTING XP.

I no longer find it useful at all for travel, due to the 80% chance (from my experience) of auto aggro upon it breaking. I find it much more effective to just use nothing and skate around all red mob packs.

Just to follow-up, and because I posted this yesterday, I went hunting with a pickup group on Endor yesterday. We all got missions in the same general area and headed out. While the rest of the group was easily able to weave through reds without drawing agro, I constantly drew agro. The groups was very diverse, but I was the only Ranger, Master Ranger, in fact. Once I started using maskscent, just I would estimate that out of every 1.5 groups we passed, a creature would agro on me from far away, rush to attack, and slow the whole group down as they paused to kill it. After about an hour, the group leader finally asked me stop using Maskscent, because it was really hampering the groups ability to traverse the wilderness.

What is wrong with this picture? A Master Ranger is a liability to a group unless they don't use their Ranger skills. As long as I dont use my wilderness survival skills, the group is much more likely to survive in the wild. Grrrr.

I was on endor 2 days ago with a maskscent of 70 (level 4 explore) and i had no trouble at all, (it broke twice and i didn't get agroed). I think the ealier comments about inverse effectiveness ought to be investigated fully...

MaskScent is a liabilty for me also even as Bothan Master Ranger (+115 camo).

I also wish it would stop giving XP and just work flawlessly at Wayfair4. I can't say that conceal is any better or worse, since I've only gotten to try one camo kit on Corellia as the resources needed are too far and few between (Anyone find any Lok domestic meat since the patch... anyone? My wheat harvesters are 6km from Nym's stronghold and I never found any, but I drew plenty of creature agro with mask on, none with it off).
