Crud I knew I'd forget something. I meant to add that the modular camp would be Ranger-only. In my proposal, scout camps would remain as they are now. Thanks.

"Hunting Blind" is nice.. but I would like to see some way to "bait" critters into range. It could be a "bait" or a "call" or whatever.

Oooohhh. I like the idea of learning creature calls, so that maybe you can easily lure one or two away from the pack.

Maybe bait could somehow cause a spawn, and a call could lure them to where you want. Hey, Obi-Wan could do a krayt dragon call!

If the camp is meant to be a place of relaxation and healing, how do we reconcile the ability to fight within it?

If we go that route, there is no logical reason to allow Battle Fatique healing, which requires a soothing atmosphere.

Now... We could ask for both forms of camps, one for combat and one for resting. But then we need to compete with the Squad Leader profession who seem moreentitled to combat related camps than us (remembering the creature-centric focus of our profession).

The camps should disband when combat happens inside of them, but it shouldnt be happening because they should be safe from creature invasion. They only need a radius of 64 meters around the camp that would be a no spawn zone and a perma' mask scent affect on it. That really is not so large an area as to make anyone walk any farther to the next lair and /maskscent is already in the game, just give its affect to camps.

We absolutely need a camp that does not disband when we are in it. I do not care what insentive they give me to stay, eventually all my experience will be maxed and I will want to go harvest. I am not helpful to the group sitting in a camp on my duff. However, entertainers and doctors would love it. They could gain some good exp, while staying away from danger. Right now, entertainers have no reason to leave the cantina. I could see peoplehiringEntertainers to come along and chill in the camps. We could actually maintain several hunting parties, who would all return for healing BF and wounds. All this requires is that they actually repel aggro's, and that they do not disband. As stated before, we know this is possible, cause our cars do not 'disband' when we leave the planet.

I have also been hearing rumors of people dropping houses and using them as mobile cantinas for the purposes of healing BF. This should be our arena. People have already found a way to heal BF in the field, something which should have been the domain of our camps from the beginning.

Bah! Looking at my first post I've already noticed several typos and mistakes. I'm too tired right now, but maybe I'll make time tomorrow to rewrite the whole thing in a more readable manner. Sorry

I think those of you who check the boards regularly know my view. For those of you who don't:

Modular camps. Every single one from scout to Ranger to SL would be based on different components. This might also satisfy some BH's, who could be the ones who could craft the turrets for camps, etc. This would force integration between classes and would also allow proffessions to make camps for what they need.

Need a combat camp? you need a certain part and not every proffession can use camps like that. Need a camp to heal BF? Only a Master Entertainer could make the necesary "stage" that a camp could have. Of course, only high-level camps could use such things. I think we all agree that a basic camp with a medical crafting station, four turrets, a mission terminal and a stage would appear a little out of balance.

okay, that's where I stand.

till next time boys and girls: peace, love and Rangering.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Just a quick question about the hunting blind. what exactly would it be? like a small fort type thing made of twigs and wood or a thing that looks like the local flora? if it is a "fort" would we have to enter it to hunt out of and if we do have to enter it what are the chances that we will get attacked by the creature and how will melee professions go about using it? Or is it just a structure we will need to be within say 15m of that gives us a bonus?

personally, i dont think our camps should disband when we fight or leave them. Being a Boy SCout, I pitch a tent, go and do something, and when i get back, the tent is still there until i take it down. So....why do our camps poof? Looking at the htfb from a structural point of view, the roof and suppotrs of that size would need a foundation to support. A foundation would not poof after being left to itself for a few minutes. I think we should be able to set up camps that stay in combat, the htfb being an example. After all, its named High Tech Field BASE kit. Its BASE, BASES dont poof when you enter combat! We also need more types of camps, and we need to be able to vary the color.

On the other side, if you're with a large group, I can think of nothing more annoying/dissapointing then to sit and watch your friends kill things while you stay out of combat jsut so the base of operations doesn't disband.

For me, this is the single most important issue regarding camps, I want to be able to fight without my camp dropping.

If the devs said, that we are something like outdoorsman, we should heal our own BF in any camp. An outdoorsman is home in the outdoor, isnt he? Maybe other players should need a entertainer to heal BF in a camp but not the ranger. Actually he gets sik in the city and feels great in the envirement. Why should a ranger/outdoorsman go to the city in a stinky cantina to heal BF, if his heart beats faster when he camps on a hill and watchs the sunsets on tatooine while cooking some kreetle soup on the fire.

Good point.

"I am not sure about turrets, tho. Sounds a bit like hunting with AT-ST's."

Aye, it will not be directly part of the treatise... Rather inferedby a reference to"defense components created by other professions".

We can leave the option open, but leave the legwork to some other profession (probably Squad Leader).

The devs have already slated rangers for a hunting blind haven't they?

Have the high end current ranger bases suppress aggro and spawns and have the hunting blind attract them. You are a ranger right. If anyone knows where to find a critter isn't it you? Not only does the hunting blind stay up in combat but it actually attracts mobs and dynamic spawns in the vicinity of the camp. A group could spend an entire play session with just 2 rangers. One sets up a hunting blind and the other sets up a normal healing camp.
