Thread: What if we had resource shift information?
I like this idea....but definately only a master ranger skill.
It would definately be a big step in making a master ranger worthwhile for a PA or city.
How about a slightly different spin on this one? I've always liked the idea of a Ranger information network for sharing information on resources shifts, etc. What if we had Ranger terminals that, once we'd harvested the appropriate hide/meat/bone we could upload that resource data too. Any Ranger could then access a terminal and see the details on what other Rangers had found. That way we'd still be searching for good resources but once we'd found it we could easily share the knowledge with our fellow Rangers. The data would just be wiped after each resource shift.
I'm sure this could be coded into the game, but no idea how difficult it would be or even if it'd be something people want to use.
Any thoughts?

That would work better. Give us more of a comunity feel.
I like that too.
Only the hardcore gamers have time to travel to every planet and sample every organic. I simply can't devote enough playing time to this game to be able to travel to every planet myself and sample everything. Any in game wayof sharing this type of information I'm all for.

Interesting...
The Ranger Terminal is nice, but, there's no 'one time shift' for it to use to clear data, after all.
All it could do would be to keep ALL reported planet/animal resource/quality data for a fixed, long enough to be SURE it had changed time, and then wipe it. That is, each entry would have an 'expire' date of about 10 days.
This WOULD be nice, and a good thing for 'Hunt Master' to get access to, rather than only Master Ranger, I'd think.
(You can tell I have hunt master, right? <grin>![]()
Well, being as this would be a very handy thing to have I was thinking Master Ranger, or maybe in one of the trees with more accurate information the further up the tree you get.
Didn't realise resources shifted at different times - but the resource shift is still planet wide for that particular resource right? So it could just wipe that data from the terminal?
Sounds like we need some sort of bulletin board system in place.
One with subcategories and such for sharing messages and information in game.
Hmmm...
I would expect the devs to tell us that if we want a bulletin board of resources, there's nothing stopping us from creating one, on the web. Not like the game locks you into it, like some, you can alt-tab out and check a website when you need to.
In fact, of course, there already ARE such sites, www.swgcraft.com being the best known of them.

That would take a lot of the fun out of hunting for the good stuff. If everyone knew what was good all the time then that would be the only thing being hunt.
Well...you wouldnt have to use it. That way you can continue to have your kind of fun and the rest of us that want to use it for our purposes can. Everyone can be happy with that. Its like having a variety of weapons....you dont have to use them all but they are there if you want them.
I think it would be a splendid idea which could help make the Ranger the go-to guy for organic stats. Marvelous.
