I think these ideas are great, can't see anything to improve on them

The fact that many professions are all benefiting from the same idea should (hopefully) cause the Devs to take an interest.

I LOVE this idea and REALLY wanna see it implemented. Here are some of my thoughts...

Owen... I'm gonna both agree and disagree with you in parts here and it's really just me providing my thoughts/reactions to stuff. Don't take it personally


Camps:

Use current camps with current bonuses/vehical calling etc.


  • Basic - no slot

  • Multi-person - 1 slot

  • Improved -2 slot

  • High quality - 2 slots

  • Field Base - 3 slots

  • HTFB - 4 slots

Modules


Generally, I don't see the purpose of these camps to act as a 'base' of operations, providing combat and defensive bonses to those in the camp or even within 1000m of the camp. I see it more as being modules for those IN camp. Camps are not currently meant for combat and I think that's appropriate (although I'm SURE others will disagree)


I like the current modules above that provide a bonus to the camo of those in camp, or repellant to creatures around. I don't think the camps should increase/decrease the spawn rate nearby, but should be able to repel creatures.


I think that each different crafting station should be a module and crafted with the same skill required to make them now. I do not like the idea of factories in camps... it just doesn't jive with me.


I think the evacuation shuttle is a sweet idea... but kinda powerful. It should take up all four slots and cost a LOT of resources to craft. This should be expensive! Craftable my Master artisans? Maybe the quality could also come into play so that artisans can experiment on the response time... a High Quality one arrives immediately while a low quality one arrives in 2minutes or something.


Some of my ideas (just ideas... names/functionality is all up for discussion, just want to get the ball rolling):


Name: Fish tracker

Description: An electronic fish tracker that allows those fishing in the camp to find the BIG fish in the water and catch even better fish

Effects: Fishing

> Increase to the size of fish caught

Created: Rangers

Used: Anyone fishing



Name: Bait Fridge

Description: A small cooled storage container for your bait which improves it's quality

Effects: Fishing

> Increase the chance of getting a nibble as well as successful catch

Created: Rangers

Used: Anyone fishing



Name: Medical Facility (lots of current in-game options for names)

Description: A medical device (again, lot's of current in-game options) that improves the healing bonus in camp

Effects: Healing

> Healing modifier in camp improves

> This benefit can stack with use of multiple modules

Created: Doctors

Used: All



Name: Survey Platform

Description: A wooden platform enabling the ranger to have a better view of the surrounding area

Effects: Improves the distance of /areatrack

> Rangers can now track for 1000m around the camp. (number can be adjusted as the devs see fit)

Created: Rangers

Used: Rangers



Name: dunno a name for this one yet

Description:

Effects: Hastens the rate at which your stomach empties

> All those in camp recieve a bonus to their stomach emptying (i.e. a 100% bonus means that if you filled your stomach while in camp and stayed for the full time, it would empty in 15 minutes rather than 30 minutes)

Created: Chefs

Used: Rangers


Well that's all I can think of for the time being and I REALLY should be doing work (I'm actually swamped right now... hmmm). Anyway, I'll post more thoughts as they arrive.

Hmmm, I didn't really consider options for how camps could play into the GCW... I'm not much of a PvP guy, so somebody else should pick up the ball here.

I thought about that too.


I felt this idea needed a bit of a bump and for some reason I'm all excited about this concept right now.

Hehe,


The ideas are endless, like you post above, but the concept is the main point. If this is to be accepted as a solid design concept by the devs i wouldnt expect them to make it as is. They like to take ideas, analyse the concept then make their own set up based on their own ideas, even if its just swamping a few details around (for good or for worse).


Ive seen this a few times, they take our ideas or suggestions and put their own 'spin' or 'tag' on it just to sign it off as an SOE idea if you know what i mean.


I would be very excited about this if we have some feedback by the devs on this idea but all we have had so far is TH saying the devs like the idea.


One thing i am excited about though (besides the CU, the Ranger Revamp and the GCW Revamp) is the new expansion being announced, i just hope its called New Worlds or something along those lines. New planets, adventure planets, cant drive on them, cant build on them (apart from ranger lodges) and utter bliss planets of exploration.


Also new GCW related zones (like instances) would be very very cool such as the defense of hoth base etc

This would definatly be something that would need to be looked into, but i was thinking time wise, the factory would mainly be used for small batch production and production of those items that REQUIRE a factory to produce in order to get identicle units.






I think the solution can be easy. Normally a factory takes credits and energy to run. This can be put into place as well. As long as there are credits (main issue) in the factory maintenance pool, the camp will stay. Or until the ranger decides to break up the camp.


So if a ranger would spend 3 hours outside maybe talking or guiding, he can setup 1 camp and run it for 3 hours while a factory is making some batch...


It just costs extra credtis, as it normally does.

Well that's more news than I had heard! and TBH, it does set my mind at east to know this. I hope they take it and run!


I haden't heard about the new expansion yet... I need to go do some reading/searching I think.

just had a quick idea for you guys. I know you need some love, been a smuggler for a year and a half so I know all about being one of SOE RHSC.


Okay how about removing turrets as being free standing placeable structures.


Have it so a Factional ranger can setup a temperoy base of operations called a Recon Station, this lasts for the usual what is it 15 minutes?


These bases have the usualy items in them but have a faction recruiter and 1 turret control terminal. Now you can place one turret up in this base and its up till it gets destroyed or the camp goes poof. Now this is temperay station is up for a very short time so you might not want to waste a large turret on it, you might just want to use one of the small turrets that a are alot cheaper.


This would stop turrets littering the battlefield, it would give Rangers some meaning in the GCW, it would give attackers a place to go overt without being compromised standing around a starport going overt before an attack.

This would be an awesome module as a matter of fact. Great idea. <3 to smuggler too.
