"does it have to have a crafting station in camp, to get xp then u craft camps?"

You will receive Wilderness Survival experience for trap/camp crafting whether you are at a station or not.

Note that you do not receive messages stating you received the experience however...

  • You will need to watch the Ctrl-S screen to see the increase.

"but you can also use the option to show XP bars on-screen"

Good show, I had forgotten about that option.

you've never heard of disbanding camps?? Geez...

The main purpose of doing it is to get rid of the camp immediately instead of it being abandoned and staying in the world for a while. I.E if u disbandedthe camps u could have popped a camp right where u stood immediately.

Its also obvious you have never heard of using Practice when crafting items for xp (u get an xp bonus).

Pretty sad...

As I said above, not because camps were actually being used... LOL

You are going to tell me that you know every command and action that can be done in the game? ROTLF These forums are to share info, and to learn. I am glad someone deiced to teach instead of showing us that they are a moron...

You are right, never heard of it... and now that I have heard of it, I doubt I will ever use it. No big deal - I am sttill having fun. You?

People need to realize that there's a lot to this game and it's really hard for someone to know all of it.

If someone's never made a camp, why does it make them a "bad player" if they don't know how to disband one?

If someone's never been a real crafter (and no, making camps and traps doesn't count), do they suck at the game because they don't know the nuances of medical/weapon/armor crafting and experimentation?

If someone's never been a combat character, they must be terrible gamers if they don't know the best special attack combination against Nightsisters when using a Carbine.

Sheesh. Take off the blinders, folks. It makes you look ignorant, not the person you're feebly trying to flame.

Sorry but that excuse doesnt fly. There is no "disband command" in fact we have been fighting to get one from the jump. There is a vid screen in a all camps, that has NO business being in a "basic camp" I might add, that u click on to look at status of the camp and/or choose to disband it. Sure in High tech field bases, these vid screens can be lost in the sauce because of all of the nice eye candy going on. I could even see u missing it in the basic camp if u put up the basic camp in a grassy or dark area. But how can have been a ch and NEVER noticed this unusual element to a basic camp is beyond me.

The practice mode is clearly seen in last stages of crafting. Dont know what it does? Then as u said come to the forums and look or ask or ask someone in-game, there is nothing wrong with that. I have been asked plenty of times in-game and have no problem explaining. The point is that "practice" is CLEARLY labeled as an option on your screen and u seem to have missed it completely. Im not saying u have to make serious strides to learn about a given profession especially when some can be quite tedious, but not knowing about things that are clearly seen in front of your face is just a lack of attention that i personally find quite sad.

I've met several masters of many professions who are clearly noobs in their fields yet they where the tag.

PS No need for me to send tips when it was already done so. Besides I guess we can thank you for your "fast xp"- getting tips but to be quite honest i found some of them more harmful then helpful. There were flaws in your statements, not to mention there are faster ways that have been noted and stickied...

1) Make a camp with a crafting station in it, and have nothing but the bare minimum in your inventory as well as two general crafting kits, several k of hide, several k of bones, and several k of metal. Now, start making camp kits. Once your inventory is almost full, destroy all but one of the camps and run out of it attacking a nearby rill, chuba, or someother useless little crature. Now wait about 4 to 6 minutes and you will be given xp for your now disbanded camp. Build a new camp, and start making camps again...repeat. THE BONUS HERE IS that you get a little over 100xp per camp CRAFTED on top of the xp you got for just being in your camp. Look and see - you can make 3k to 6k per camp made...

Some things

1. Grind camps with the highest complexity that u can have at your level using 3 or more crafting tools depending on the time it takes for each tool to complete production of the camp. The idea here is to bypass the time it takes for each camp to be produced. Lots of resources are needed for this in terms of hide, bone and metal, so it can be costly especially if u dont collect your own hide or bone.

Also if u use practice mode when crafting u will get and Xp bonus but not final product in your inventory. Use at your discretion

2. Always grind wilderness xp while sitting in your camp. Its best to place your camp in an area highly populated with people as they will help you get the maximum number of xp in a shorter amount of time. Some popular spots are right outside of Coronet or Theed. In Theed u can place your camp in front of or under a bridge be able to access a steady stream of visitor that run across the bridge. Make sure u DISBAND the camp by clicking on the vid screen in the camp, pulling up the radial and selecting the DISBAND option.

2) Masked scent if your friend, and on a SWOOP BIKE, it's your best friend... Go to Dathomir, Science Outpost for example. Mask you scent, get on your swoop, hit ALT-M to bring up the over view map and start flying around looking for red dots. Go near ALL of them you can find at full speed. You will start racking up XP VERY quickly - up to 1k per minute in some areas. Once you find a large 500m to 600m area that has a lot of reds in it, simply weave your way back and forth around that area. You will get XP from the same animals over and over assuming you haven't come right back to one you were just at. (Give it a bit of time before visiting the same reds.) IF ANYTHING AGGROS YOU, simply keep going and get away as quickly as possible. Within 20 seconds or so, hit PEACE and clear your target. Stop your bike, get off, mask scent again, get on, and keep going...

At ranger level it is more prosperous to use /conceal if at all possible as it breaks less and lasts longer than maskscent. Also u can apply it to others and receive a bonus from them not being aggroed as well as yourself. Therefore if at all possible group with some friends and /conceal them while being on hard planets with alot of reds. However u may not be able to make the camo kits needed to /conceal yourself or friends especially on places like Dathomir. Thus find a MASTER ranger andask to purchase somecamo kits for yourchoice of planetfrom him/her. It helpsif u take the time to collect the materials needed for the camo kits yourself. There is are posts detailing the requirements for these kits somewhere around the boards or u can just ask a ranger in-game.

Overall however the key to gettinggrinding rangerQUICKLYis to get into big hunting groups on hard planets with lots of reds. Dathomir wins out in this case. While in a group u can get more scouting xp with /conceal and harvesting from high level mobs. Also u will be harvesting resources need for grinding camps and many dath mobs give high amounts of resources per kill. Also u can get much trapping xp from having others be your tank

3) Go hunting with a group and throw as many traps as you can at each animal. Idrag different types of traps into the toolbar at the top so all I have to do it TAB to the correct target, and hit F1 F2 F3 F4 F5 F6 F7 F8 (etc) and trap until the animal is killed by the others. Then TAB to the next creature being attacked and repeat until they are all gone. On top of that, you get a bonus in that you get to harvets from the animals that are killed by the others. FYI - some traps work on Rancords and Kraytsand they give between 1.5k and 2k each when they do affect the target. (Be sure to make your traps in your own camps to keep giving yourself camping XP.)

Only use wire mesh, or glow juice traps for stacking trapping xp. They can hit a mob more than once and give u more xp. Glow wire also stacks but it has a higher material requirement than the aforementioned. Other traps can be used but they will only give u xp per one successful throw per creature.

Yeah, what I did was make a few hundred Glow Juice traps, toss on some Doc buffs and advanced Ubese, and find the highest level stuff I could consistently hit with traps and trap them over and over while they feebly tried to hit me. It took just a couple hours to get the whole Ranger trapping line that way, and I didn't neve anyone to help me.

Near the end of the grind I was using one of the varieties of Sulfur Mynocks on Lok. They were giving near 400 trap xp a pop, I almost never missed, and they just couldn't hurt me. Sure, you could do it faster if you had someone/something to tank for you, but that's not always an option.

I also used your method for grinding Survival XP. Did it near my city in a camp, and just made the highest level camp I could. Also just took a couple hours to get through the Ranger line.

I'm having a lot more fun with the normal Scout XP though, mostly getting it by participating in big hunting groups on Lok. Gurks work quite well, as a small group can kill them quickly, they give good experience when harvested, and you can take missions for them.

In the scoutforums I read that surivival xp is the hardest in the scout tree to grind, because it takes so long... omg, they should have tried mastering Tailor and Bio-Engineer! I went from survival 2-4 in a few hours tonight. Its VERY fast compared to my other professions.

Also, I used glowjuice traps for trapping xp. I simply emptied my inventory (almost), macroed the glowjuice schematic and grafted away (with "practice noitem" turned off - only /nextCraftingStage), and filled my inv with traps. And only this one type of trap. Then I filled two pages of hotbars with traps, leaving the last 4 on each page for B stimpacks to heal my action now and then.

Then I went and found myself a chuba. And I could use two double pages of traps on that single chuba!! That equals 240 traps on one mob, getting steady 42 xp almost every time. That is 10k xp if every single one gives xp. Take away 1.5-2k and the number is more correct perhaps.

Im sure there are other lucrative ways of doing it. This was mine. And of course, this is relevant more for the scouts aiming for ranger. I hope it made some sense.

I've been a ranger for a few months now, but just decided to master it. (was 4040 for a long time) I maxed the trapping tree in about an hour spamming glow juice traps on one kamurith. Got about 650 exp per trap that hit. I'm also a TKM and was fully buffed, so the kam couldn't really hurt me. But some variation of this method is the best way (I know) to max the trapping tree.

Hope this helps.

This might be simple and stupid but I'll add it here anyway. I assume we have alot of college and high school students who play this game who havee studying tto do. I also assume people have alot of boring tasks to do in reeal life (take out the trash. wash the dishes etc.) Just pop up a camp and set the alarm to 25-30 min depending on the quality of camp you are using. Go do somee real life stuff, watch tv, read a book in front of your comp and when the alarm goes off, simply abandon the current camp and pop up a new one. This might be much slower than grinding camps by sitting in one andd making them, but its not a bad way to earn xp if you dont have the time to play. I went from 0 level scout to ranger 1 this way with very little in the way of actually making camps. Now I have more hide and bone than I can ever use ( using the group harvest method above). Survival is one of the most boring grinds in the game, so this is a useful way around repetitive wasteful crafting. Remember, you can always sell the extra hide and bone for mucho dinero.
