lol you talk about risk in gathering resources when everything in this game is a breeze to kill. Just accept the fact you are all price gougers plain and simple. Not saying you can't charge what you want, but don't try to justify it with lame excuses. Personally when I hunt for folks, I charge on a scale, if they are extremely nice/repeat customers I actually don't mind letting them set the price, it costs me nothing to harvest meat or kill things-in fact I MAKE money taking on the lairs...voritor hunters for example, 25k a lair. so people are actually paying me to make money anyway., my travel ticket is the only expense since I have guild doctors who buff for free.

Ohhhh he tried to go back on his deal, wahhhh wahhh now it's 100 credits per!!!!

Lesson...take down payments before going into a contract with people you do not know, and keep detailed logs of the transaction, this goes for both buyer and seller..

Grow up and get real...and

Yeah, man, you set me straight. How could I ever repay you? HEHEHE Give me a break. You're likely one of the perma-nubes who wouldput 6 units of 200oq meat on the bazaar for 6k. Keep grinding butterball.

GilsRooc,

We're on the same server, lol, but it sounds like you and I play the game pretty differently. I know half a dozen master doctors or so on Bria and they've all pretty much become friends. So we trade stuff, we buy stuff off each other, we hunt together alternatingly for stuff they want, and stuff I want, and pretty good relationships. I think the stim b crates I have right now are right around 350 heal and I think I paid about 60k or so for them (don't quote me on that, I still have a lot left and bought them over a month ago, but certainly << 100k). I don't think that was any kind of "special buddy price" or anything, and I have no idea whether those were made with our without ACRDM's. I'd be happy to give you a referral or two if you like, but you'd have to promise to "play nice" with them, lol, none of this "I'm dictating the price and I'll teach you a thing or two about economics..." stuff, lol.

Adding herbivore meat to stims (regardless of their price, and regardless of their strength) adds 50 points to their strength (50 points if the herb meat is absolutely primo by the way, much much less if it's not). If a doctor were to pay 30cr/u for herb meat, that would raise the price of the crate of stims by 24k before the doctor saw even a dime of markup profit, and I doubt many people will pay that.

Anyway, my whole point was, you (and a lot of rangers) figure that you can get x amount for avian meat, so suddenly that becomes "the going rate" with regards to all organics. Herb meat is gonna then cost x because damnit I could always be hunting for avian meat and getting that price if I wasn't hunting for this herb meat, or wild meat, or.... Wooly hide is the same for armorsmiths. But in fact, what you've done is priced yourself out of selling just about anything BUT avian and wooly hide, because those are things that artisans sell that command those types of margins and require such organics. It's kinda like GM coming out and saying that they are going to drop all their car lines except SUV's because those are the ones with the highest margins, and that if you want a compact, TS, you're gonna pay the SUV price anyway. If they did that you can bet a lot of people would start riding bicycles

/yawnYou know, I like you buddy. Unfortunately, we don't see eye to eye.You assume I play my game based on this post. You have no idea what my style is outside of this one situation. I had a post responding to this two times over and it turned into another long write up. So I just give up. Some folks will agree and some won't. I will not pretend supply/demand is inexistent in the game. And I'm not going to pretend to have no knowledge in the concept. If I'm going to spend 4 hours of my time hunting 10k of lokianavian meat, I'm going to factor in the opportunity cost and the cost of benefit over it all.Lets not forget the cost of 'time'. If you're my friend, the cost is closer tozero. If you're barking requests for the meat all day (and no one takesthe contract), you bet there will be a price. Supply/demand. Simple as that.

GilRook,

Here's the other side to the economic thing: You are a hunter. You may or may not have medical skills. Suppose you do. Suppose you pay 30k/crate to buy a crate of stims that heals for 300. Now, suppose a doctor offered you a crate of stims that heals not for 300, but for 350. How much more would you pay? Straight mathematics say that you'll probably pay 35k/crate for the 350's correct?

This is the delimma. As I've demonstated in other threads, because of how much benefit people get from buffs, and how little meat it takes, doctors can easily afford to pay 30, 40, even 100cpu for avian meat and still make 100k or more for *each* set of buff stims that they make. So they do pay that much. So rangers see that and figure all meat must be worth that much to crafters (or they figure like you do that it takes the same amount of time to hunt for herb meat than it does avian, so my price is the same). So they try to charge that much and they meet resistance. Why? Because of the *other* side of the economic picture. It would be nice if rangers could just prance around mumbling something about supply and demand, pretend that we've gotdoctor's degrees in economics, and charge whatever in the hell we want for meat, but in some cases that just doesn't work.

It takes 800 herb meat to make 1 crate of ACRDM which goes into 1 crate of stims, which raises the power by around 50 which you as a consumer you will pay 5k more for. So what does that work out to in terms of price of the herb meat? 6.25cr/u. At 6.25cr/u the doctor makes no additional money at all by using the herb meat. Any more, and they eat the difference in this example. That is what you're probably running into in this transaction. I'm frankly amazed that she'd pay 20cr/u for herb meat. That seems to me to be a little financially reckless of her.

Goldmember, I understand your point. However, I'd like to counter it with a few points of my own.

Crates of 350power stim b's (on bria) gofor 120k. The more rare 400 power stim b's go for more, but it is rare. Generally, though, the docs will split the crates in half and charge 60k for 25/crate stims. One doc I know is also a rifleman and gets his own meat. He charges the same. He doesn't pay a credit towards herb or avian. I would agree with you 100% if the prices you quote applies on my server.

I failed to mention that the doc wanting to pay 20cpu refused to barter with me. I told her I'd get 20k meat for her if I would get a crate of stims.

Speaking of supply/demand, docs are always complaining (from what I see in spatial) that there aren't enough hunters and generally offer roughly60-80cpu whenasking rangers to hunt for them. If anything, my price is far below market. As you can see, player economies differ from server-to-server.

One other thing, one does not need a PhD in economics tograsp the concepts of supply/demand (this is not rocket science here). I'm a college studentgraduating this semester. My previous major (changedmy emphasisto arelated field) was economics (fascination in macro theory) and have attended a few summer session upper division econ classes (completing econometricswas thetoughest academic challenge I everfaced). Even without that, a simplemicroclass wouldcover more than enough to understand the concept.

Point1: Supply and demand have an inverse relationship. When demand goes up and supply remains steady, themarket equilibriumincreases. If supply and demand increases, the price maintains theoverall value. If supply increases but demand remains steady, the price decreases. If demanddecreases and supply increases, the market equilibrium decreases. There a more examples.

Point2: If market equilibrium remains unchanged and the price increases, an excess supply exists where salesare stagnant(ie full vendors). If the price decreases below equilibrium, there is excess in demand (ie perma-empty vendors).

Point 3: Harvested organics in this game see a price inelasticity of demand. An increase in price generally means asmaller decrease in demand. In the case of avian/herbmeat,there is no observable decrease in demand (on Bria)because there are many master doctors out there.

Point 4: An armorsmith pays 45cpu for 10k units of high SR wooly hide. Said armorsmith then produces roughly 35 sets of composite armor for approx 500k each. Factor in the cost of hide for one helmet, 45 * 30 = 1350 credits. Subtract the cost of harvester maintenance and power and the armorsmith sits on a huge profit.

I will often give meat away myself. If I happen to be out hunting and I get a good stack of meat and I remember someone that had been in need of it, I will gladly give it to them for free.

I had a bad experience with this though, due to a rather annoying Doctor/Bio Engineer/Chef whose name will remain anonymous. I was asked to get a certain meat at a certain amount. I believe it was about 50k of this particular meat. Well, I immediately informed her that it would take me some time to collect all that and depending upon when it came into spawn, I would get as much as I could whenI could and she could have it for free. She offered to make me rich if I collected a huge amount of meat for her. I laughed and kindly informed her money is not an issue with me. I don't need her money and I would just collect what I could and she could have it. Well, since she contacted me too late and the meat had already shifted out, I was only able to get about 10k. I handed this over to her and her response was,

"This is all you got?!!

I contracted out 5 other rangers and they all together only got me about 20k of this stuff.

I went by myself and got about 100k.

What the heck do you rangers do if you aren't out hunting for meats for other people to use?"

.....I was astonished to say the least. My response to her statements was something like this,

"Yes that is all I got.

Sorry, not my problem.

Good for you.

How about try to play the game. I work enough in real life. I don't work for anyone in here. And I never took a contract from you. I said I would gladly get your meat if I had the time. Simple as that."

I was a little pissed off. To say that all we exist for, is to be the crafting communities little meat puppets annoyed me. I stopped collecting meats and hide for anyone but close friends from that point on. Rangers get no respect and I won't act as a tool for someone else to get rich. I don't need their money to begin with. I already made my fortune in game. The fact that I offered to get her meat for free and it wasn't enough for her greedy a$$, was enough to make me stop collecting resources for people other than friends. I don't even bother with it anymore.

I have a doc on one server and a ranger on another. (wish i hade em both on one server )The two biggest problems i see is A - when a contract is made, most people (doc's and rangers) seem unwilling to pick a price, or to clearly state a price (as caused the original posters problem on the herb meat. The doc was trying to get the price down but failed to clearly state she wanted 25 cpu, and the ranger failed to clearly state he wasn't lowering his price) and B contracts altogether. With my ranger, i collect the meat first, when i feel like it, and market it after i have it. It makes it MUCH easier to walk away from a lowball bid. Also, docs seem willing to pay a bit more when they can have it now, as opposed to 3-4 days from now. With my doc, i prefer when a ranger offers me meat he already has, rather than hoping he'll collect in a timely manner (i understand we all have RL issues, we don't like the feeling of 'work' in game, ect..) and that he won't decide to change the price at the last minute, forcing me to either pay much more than i had planned, or wait a few more days for someone else to collect it.

Basicaly, in game there is no way to enforce a contract, other than to just not trade. Selling something you already have is always going to be easier than selling someting you're going to get.

Yeah, just checked it out. I sent him an in-game email to buy stims from him. I'm impressed how low they are. Thanks for the heads up.
