Thread: What Resources Sell?
I think Ranger is one of the most consistantly lucrative professions on the server (non-crafting obviously).
My suggestions:
1) watch your server trade forums. Normally when good meat/hide shifts in a chef or BE will post a contract. You don't always have to honor that contract, but it gives you a "heads up" that something worthwhile is probably in shift. Grab lots of it, then when it shifts out see what the final going rate ended at. Really uber meat for instance will escalate in price as more folks get into the mix of wanting it. Standard large volume (100K chunks) meat contracts on my server run standard at 20 cpu and upwards of 50 cpu for really good stuff.
2) stick to the upper end planets and carnivore meat so you can get plenty of volume. Dathomir, Endor, Dantooine. In that order. Nothing says lovin like a great carnivore meat shifting into Dathomir. Rancor's cower in their shoes (if they wore shoes) because they become a GREAT source of large volumes of carn meat. My two favorites are Rancors on Dath and Voritors on Dant. On Dant you can even make extra money.....start a grinding/xp group. Try to get folks into your group who have some harvest skills. 1) if they have harvest skills offer your trapping skills (hold critters in place for them) in exchange for them giving you the meat they collect (along with the meat you collect). Ranger bonus and all. 2) if they can't harvest then just offer your trapping skills while they kill the critter. Many ranged prof's can stand back and kill critters while you trap them in place...this saves them buff food, stims from healing, etc... plus you can harvest the meat. You might be suprised how someone will pay you 100K or higher per hour to trap critters for them (and if you need the meat anyway, then why not).
3) watch your server trade forums for who the key BE's and chef's are. Send them PM's and tell them your a ranger willing to sign up for large volume contracts. As a chef we have huge problems getting stacks of 1 million or more units of meat. 100K chunks are nice, but having a million units of the same good meat really helps us with schematics, BE runs, etc... A chef or BE paying 20 cpu for a standing meat order would probably go 30 cpu if you guarantee him/her 1 million units (or 500K, etc..). We use a lot of meat. As an after-thought on any long term/large volume deal you make with a chef....have them toss in a couple of crates of Veghash also.....will help you out and they could care less about a couple of crates (but might save you a couple 100K).
4) if you have the time and are just out collecting meat waiting for good stuff to shift in (watching the forums, etc..) milk any critters you can before you kill them. Milk is a great side bonus in terms of cash flow. Always in high demand, any stats.
5) watch for really good bone and hide also. Even really good bone can be used in bone armor or as a structural organic requirement in say chef food (chef's use OQ and DR on bone). Something like 900/900 on each of those stats will always bring good money. Places like swgcraft are certainly your friend for finding the best stuff....but you need to keep up on it almost daily to catch new spawns early to get high volume amounts (always sell 100K chunks at a premium).
Hope my ideas/suggestions help. Good luck.

Naboo Bristley
Dantooine Wooly
Lokian leathery.
High OQ/SR.
They need generic scaley, wooly and leathery too, but the named ones will get you higher CPU. If you get stuff just out and about (hides mostly) and want to dump them cheap sell them to an Arch or tailor for 1-5cpu.
