I have a pistol character that seems to fly through acid damage weapons alot and energy weapons as well. I mostly use republic blasters, scatters and my trusty dxr. The hard part is finding them unsliced over 200 damage. I have a carbineer that I'm working on but I haven't fuly excplored what I'll be using yet being i just hit novice carbineer.

Oreet asked:

*Which weapon do you find that you use the most?

DXR6b, T21 Both sliced for speed. Am on my second DXR and my dunno how many T21's I've trashed with PuPs/repairs.

*Which weapons do you seem to keep wearing out faster than others (probably end up being the same answer as the first question)?

Yup! You've got the second sight, innit?

Which weapons out there would you love to use or try out, but no one ever stocks?
for example, i've never seen a spraystick stocked on a weapon vendor.

Waiting to see the Berserkers appearing. Used the ones off the jedi/JtL beta blue frogs and they were 'fun'. Interested to see what crafted ones come out like, and of course how much they go for.

WS near me makes/sells spraysticks. I like to keep one for close work, smallish critters. Speed sliced with a PuP on, can chuck out all of 200 damage every 1.n seconds. Does almost as much damage to me if am unbuffed!

Ones I'd not touch: jawa stun, SG82 (the plumbers pipe), E11.

For novice marks a really good laser rifle is the mutts nutts.

OH! how could I forget. I have a lovely Tusken on TC that Fred got me. Sweet, it is. Fast, sounds like a rifle, looks nice and banditlike... yeah

i am a speedcapped rifleman so i tend to look at damg more than speed. for grinding i use t-21's and dxr's ( dxr is by far my favorite weapon) and for pvp i use jawa ion ( for the stun dmg ) for marksman the laser is the best youcan get. noone on shadowfire stocks much of anything else though.

I buy T21's by the crate normally. They decay fast so just slice em, speed power up (I don't have full Rifles) and destroy when below 10%.

I have a DE10 as I used to be Master Pistoleer but tbh I hardly ever used it! A 2 Mill pistol is a show piece, not something you want to hit 0 after 2 days of shooting anything! Same with my AV21, I only use it in "safe" places having had 2 speeder bikeseaten by angry critters whilst I lay incapped, it's just for showing off!

Also carry a jawa rifle in case something has high energy resists altho tbh I find the high armour pen of the T21normally works better anyway.

At a guess, the following is probably true for a large number of players (I'll use rifleman in my examples because it is a very popular profession with a wide selection of weapons):

Main weapon will be a high DPS weapon (with AP factored in). This choice will probably vary between players based on cost, HAM costs, pure damage output, and convenience(i.e. some riflemen will use a laser rifle as their main weapon because it is cheap, plenty powerful, and has reasonably low HAM costs while others will choose a T21 because it hasa more consistent high damage output and they don't feel like switching guns when they go big game hunting).

Almost everyone will carry at least one of the highest DPS weapons for their profession. This is often the same as the main weapon but not always.

A variety of damage types is appreciated by some players (while an SG82 or Jawa rifle is pointless in most combat, there are some specific places where those guns will do the most damage--some of these weapons are especially nice with high end krayt tissues and such to offset the lower damage they normally do). This market is somewhat less popular than the ones above for several reasons: the guns are more special use so they don't wear out as much, many players don't realize or don't care about the slight damage difference, it's hard to find good ones, not all professions have a decent selection, many players don't check the resistances unless their main weapon is almost useless (I used to use a T21, a Disruptor, a Jawa, and an SG82 in the Geo caves all the time but I had to switch in the middle of battle to do as much damage as possible [especially since I had to balance HAM costs into the equation]), etc.

Very special use weapons: This market is all but gone with the equipment timer but some players would keep weapons with higher accuracy in specific ranges so that they could hit more often with specific specials (i.e. I would sometimes use a spraystick to make sure I could get warningshot off). Chances are that this market has died.

Levelling weapons/challenge weapons/economy weapons: Some weapons are just about useless once higher certs come along. But newer players, players with skill point restrictions, and players who are crazy enough to use weapons that actually make them perform worse (for a challenge or duel practicing or whatever) can make use of some of the other weapons. This also includes players who are doing lots of low level hunting for hides and such (i.e. 1000cpu nuna hunt with a spraystick).

Show weapons: Some weapons are for show. This includes stuff like bowcasters (wookiee craftable--you can possibly find a wookiee weaponsmith to make you a factory schem), tuskens, spraysticks (very small footprint/lightsaberish), swords, axes, gaffi sticks, etc.

If you want this to be a successful normal business, I'd start with the "main" weapons. You might also consider being a specialty crafter, avoiding the weapons that every other weaponsmith already has in stock (doing really high end weapons, custom order work only, show weapons, levelling weapons, etc). Chances are that you will find it a pain to keep every weapon type in stock but you can do them all if you want. It all depends on how you feel like running it.

To answer your question Oreet, yes unfortunately only Wookiees can make Bowcasters. A shame too since most WS's are human or Rodian. It's usable at Novice Marksman, but a sweet low-level weapon. Mine does 210-400 damage and 5.3 speed and around 40's HAM. I love it except for the low AP.

Which weapon do you find that you use the most?

Either a good DXR (high dam, low costs) or a High Dam, Low Cost T21 (speed doesnt matter on the T21, but it does matter on the DXR)

Which weapons do you seem to keep wearing out faster than others (probably end up being the same answer as the first question)?

My T21s go to pieces fast, but my DXRs I eat like candy.

Which weapons out there would you love to use or try out, but no one ever stocks?

Lol,a spraystick. One of these days, I too will try shooting laser bolts from my hand.

Which weapons are you certified for in your main combat profession that you'd NEVER use, even to save your own neck?

in other words, which weapons should i not even bother to try to stock on my vendor?

The SG82, the Laser Rifle, the Tusken Rifle (though a high dam Tusken rifle can be good for things with high electric/low ken resists, but the ap3 of a T21 pretty much negates this), and the other certed rifles below Rifles 2.

I use my DXR-6b alot, but now that i am kreeping up on Master Rifleman (only half of concealemt IV and abilities IV left) I find that i can take things down faster with my T-21 (516 max dam W damage slice) if use a combination of P-darts to slow them down, then lay on the HS3.

However my T-21's condition is passed 25% so soon i will be in the market for a new one, i seen a really nice krayte T-21, speed 5.1!!!!!!!! max damage 420'ish. that would be sweet!!! but with a 1.5 mill price tag, im not sure that it is worth it, seening how fast those pups decay..but hey as ranger i can make that money back quite easily.

Why not get a +99.99% tool, a master weaponsmith with repair tapes and try and fix it? Sure it might fall apart but it more likely will repair to 40-60% condition.....u would put off buying a new one for a few more days

Thanks Osna

Weapon and Armor repair attachments do not work.

also, Weaponsmiths and Armorsmiths do not have any better chance of repairing an item than any other character.

A few things

The reason 2handed swords aren't used that much is because of the damage spread between min and max. I have seen a 600max on Lowca and i almost bought it, but it was selling for about 4mil (if i remember correctly). But with the spread being so far apart , it is hard to get consistent damage out of it. Now i am not knocking the sword, i loved them when i was a swordsmen. But i swore by my PH. You simply won't find another weapon that can go thru critters like that one will.

As far as rifles go, once you get speedcapped or at least close to it, a T-21 is hard to beat in my opinion. I have a dxr-6, but i only use it when the resists on the creatures are so high, that the T-21 is useless against.

Last thing, Oreet, my buddy,my pal. I will be getting in touch with you for some weapons

Hope some of this helped.

Just a wee addition. My local WS stocks a little of EVERYTHING.

High end weapons are great for prestige and bringing in the big sales from players, but for every Master Rifleman there's going to be ten times as many grinding marksmen. You might shift a dozen hand crafted krayt enhanced beauties, but you'll shift n times as many standard laser rifles over time.

The 'odd' firearms, ie, spraysticks, SGs, ion rifles, etc are worth having in stock too, as there is a market for them, albeit one with fewer customers.

Crates of CDEF's (yes, them) for slicers to buy in bulk, weapon upgrade kits, repair kits and PuPs are also worth having on your vendor as they'll bring in repeat business. If you have a smuggler alt, obviously a specialist vendor selling sliced weapons is another attraction.

Hmm. See, now am tempted to go off and start developing one of my other toons as a WS again... naaaaah! lol
