Is it possible that there are enough role playing rangers that we could all relocate to a common server or perhaps have many of us start new 'toons to join an established role playing ranger guild.
In fact, if anyone wanted to move over to Kauri, we have an Antarian Ranger guild here with four Masters amonst the group and we would more than happy to have some of you show up at our door.
In fact, in fact, if anyone of you wants to transfer aranger character over and can't arrange a credit transfer between galaxies, I'll stake you a million credits to help you get started and help you scrap up the basics ( weapons, armor, speeder, mounts, droids, BE clothing, brandy, veghash, stims, etc.)on day one.

Just a two-penneth from FarStar
We have a fairly young Antarian Ranger guild that is just starting to find its feet and offer 'services' to Jedi. Firstly, we decide which Jedi we help. We meet regularly and if someone is deemed worthy by the guild(i.e. not a 12 year old idiot out to disgrace the good name of this ancient order) then we invite them to take up our offer of support. If they say yes, fine. If they don't, fine.
To those picked out, we offer certain services - tracking obviously (both checking for BH's and for quests), military and medical support if they should want it, they can come and join us on guild events to break up the monotony of the jedi grind and lastly we offer them use of our houses (those that are private anyway) to provide a string of safe houses across the galaxy. It's hard to roleplay the Antarians exactly in SWG but these are the ways we've found to help the jedi in an SWG kind of way.

Those are actually some really good ideas. I'm far from master Ranger, but I'll take as much of this as I can into Gorath with us., thanks.

In my opion (but don't want to start a debate on this) Jedi shouldn't even be in SWG. This is the wrong time period to have them running around.
that being said, i realize that since this is a Star Wars game, you almost MUST have Jedi in it to appeal to the masses.
I agree totally with Oreet on this one... so having Area Track, I've got a new hobby! Spying out jedi using lightsabers! I have bagged 3 in the past 4 days, although 1 was through a solo group so that was rather easy! Now you will get a LOT of verbal abuse, but as the path to jedi favours mindless grinders, annoying a 10 yr old isn't really something to make me lose much sleep tbh!
Now I should add that I don't go looking for jedi... but if I'm about to go out on a hunt, feeling a little bored at the SP, and someone walks past me with the word PADAWAN emblazened over their head then I figure they're fair game and the hunt is on! Watch their name, see their rough path when they start out, wait till they disappear from radar.. and then its Ranger skills and hunt experience to the fore.
You don't get them everytime, but it's cool when you do.
And this is my MAIN point again before the flaming begins, Jedi know they are marked men/women, so ifthey arestupid enough to march about with an advert over their head.. then I have no sympathy when the terminals light up with their name. I don't track Novice Scouts, or Soldiers, or Master Image Designers, or even Slicers... but PADAWAN is a bit of a giveaway!
As for tracking for them.. guildies is free as are all services for as long as they need me, polite jedi (hey, I may meet one sometime!) would be a nominal charge cos I'd be pleased to have them among the ranks of force users seeing that we appear to be stuck with them... standard ganker jedi, 500k an hour, up front, on the hour.. find it or not find it.
They pay the price or I go back to skinning critters!

I mean, there are some pretty whiney Jedi on my server who seem to be scared to death of BH's and such. Do we help them with their trials, lead them to beasites so they can get the kills, act as bodyguards or what?
Just curious as I like the idea of a relationship between the Rangers and the Jedi, but see very few Jedi worthy of it. But then, I'm in the rambling on mood this morning too. Might jusy need some stronger coffee.

You could do those things.
Or you could lead Bounty Hunters to them instead. Sometimes they have problems with their tracking droids, you know.

This sounds like a very nice way of adding texture to the guild and to the profession. How do you find Jedi "candidates" for these services and what has been the interest level from the jedi? Perhaps more of them would like to team up like this with Ranger and we're just not offering.

The first thing to say is that we are still quite small (I think the guild numbers about 10 max.. not absolutely sure) and so we have only invited two jedi so far to avail themselves of our services. If we get bigger, we can ask more but we didn't want to overload ourselves.
How do we find them? Well, contacts in game like all things. One of the jedi we help was someone that we came across one ina "happen-stance", helped him do some tracking for a quest - generally he impressed us with his attitude and maturity so we decided to help.
I can't speak for interest level amongst jedi. The two jedi we help are very sympathetic to our size and aims and so haven't overloaded us. I honestly don't know how much they talk to other jedi tbh but it's a good question.

I tracked on a couple of occasions for a ex guild member doing his Knight Trials
I never found the creatures he was looking for but on one occasion he found the creature/s whilst I was following on behind still tracking
So I am a 'lucky charm' as well as a tracker.

I'm a Master Ranger on Kauri and am very happy with my guild, but would enjoy working with the Antarian Rangers. This has been my favorite profession in the game. I'll probably go Jedi eventually but will be nice
and will make my alt a ranger as well.

I myself am on the security squad for our Paddies in Pampers... as we call them... I take it upon myself to scout out the cities they are planning to transport too... we have a pretty good system with people guarding the paddy to the best of their ability. I'll/areatrack every 5 seconds or so when waiting for them to bike it in. It's worked pretty well with the exception of the occasional BH hiding behind faction, or logging in near us surprisingly (they are getting more creative by using alts and the such.) I think it's fun acting as body guard actually. It makes me feel even more useful as a ranger too.
cheers.

The leader of our roleplay guildhasn't even told us that he's a padawan yet, he's so affraid of ending up on the terminals that he hunts creatures solo as often as he can. If we're nearby we have to be more that 60 meters away and it has to specificially be out of character.
It will create an interesting situation when my character does find out he's a padawan, as she's never been force sensitive, but she's always wanted to be an Antarian Ranger. She figures that one can't really be an Antarian Ranger unless you actually have a Jedi you can help. Being second in command she would expect to be informed if something thisimportantwere to happen.
But back to the topic, the current reporting system for Jedi's is rediculous. I can't help my friend who's a jedi because he'll end up on the terminal, as if there's a monitor on my person that automatically finds out who I'm with and if they're wielding, and then transmits that information somewhere without my consent. Make the jedi game very solo, might as well go play kotor. I'd like to choose IF I want to report a jedi that I see, not make it automatic.

That's what I was looking for, a way to give more meaning to the Ranger profession. Our server also has a very defined padawan/master relationship between the Jedis. Each Padawan is assigned to a master from what I understand and they take those roles pretty seriously. Rangers helping out would take some of the burden off and gain a little more respect as well.
