I've never dropped Master Ranger, and don't intend to.
Ive always been a ranger and always will be, but if you ever feel bored with nothing to do. Drop your skills down to novice ranger and level back up again at a friendly pace. Ive got a few hunting friends who i spend alot of time with and we have done this lots of times, we drop master and sit around in camps or go hunting and level back up again. Although i know ive just surrendered a particular skill, i still get a buzz when i get it back. Like i said previously i think im on my 9th masterage atm and im on my way to getting my tenth on TC.
Obviously if you spend alot of time on your own i wouldnt advice dropping and leveling up again, but if there are a few of you and finding yourself bored with the profession and game as a whole, sit back and do some group hunts together leveling each other up. Forget about money and such things, just head out and have fun.
All in all, its not for everyone, but those who just want to spice things up for a little while without leaving the profession should try it.

I've been a master ranger for almost a year now. I have never once dropped it. In fact, I've only dropped 4 boxes of anything, ever.
Those boxes were, novice artisan, and survey 1-3. I picked those up back when we had flora requirements for our cammo kits. Once they changed that, I dropped those boxes and finished off mastering pistoleer. Never dropped a thing since, even though it has been tempting at times.
