Playing the role of a Ranger is easy. Just ask yourself...what would Ted Nugent do?

THIS is why I want a Ranger's bow . Btw, I play guitar as well, irl.

I also don't like the idea for meat/hide/bones. Like Calc, I'm a ranger, a hunter, and I want to hunt.

But there's more to it than that, and to illustrate my following point, let me ask, when was the last time you saw a non-BE enhanced Vasarian Brandy for sale? It just doesn't happen, and the reason is that BEs and Chefs have been able to accomplish a lot in the way of harvesting large amounts of meat. Already I see it as a problem that there's only one version of most products out there, the very, very best possible, and little to no variety between vendors and crafters. Back in my chef days, I used to sell a range of products, most of which weren't BE at all, with the occasional BE Glazed Glucose Pate (anyone out there remember this?) as something truly special.Shortly after the revamp, I used to sell both BE and non-BE brandy (at a much cheaper price). For those customers who purchased the non-BE stuff, most found that it worked just as well for them as the BE stuff, especially in PvE and if they weren't yet masters of their combat professions. In essence, however, the BE products were something special. Now they're sadly the norm. This also makes it impossible for a non-master crafter to do any business at all, seeing as master becomes the basic level of competence to make anything. If anything, I'd like to see fewer resources in the game altogether, more variety in products, a way for non-masters to work their way up to master by playing their professions rather than grinding, and see truly exceptional products become far rarer than they presently are. Farms, of any sort, only compound the problem, as I see it, further and, oh yeah, I like to hunt. Hunt. Hunt. Hunt.

As far as more eggs/milk, etc... why not just make the amounts gathered depend on harvesting skill?

I like hunting too. I could see cranking up the amount of eggs or milk depending on harvesting skill. If I remember correctly this thread was started with a post about static organic harvesters. I posted about calling them corrals or coops and putting creatures in them to harvest eggs or milk. I also said that should be a creature handler structure. They're used to domesticated animals, not rangers. It's reasonable to me that CH could be analogous to a farmer and keep cows and chickens around for milk and eggs. But NO harvesters for bone/meat/hide.

What about having farms (or whatever) that can be used to produce meat / hide / bone, but that only scouts and rangers can own the deeds for, much like cantina/theaters/etc. For example, personal farms at scout harvesting 3, mediums at ranger harvest 1, and heavies at master ranger?

The above was suggested by a forward thinking person in the Architect forum and I think that it is a good one. Whereas the harvesting of milk, eggs, and breeding of animals would be in the hands of the Creature Handlers the production of the meat, hide, and bone would be in the hands of the Rangers. What do you think about this proposal?

This was actually done in Beta, but was removed. The "farmer" was actually a class and creature harvesters were used in the manner suggested. The devs eliminated them prior to Beta 3. It has been suggested since then and the same response was always given from the Dev's. I don't think it will happen. Just me though.
