I avoid last minute invite groups suchs as ones you find outside cantinas, /spam "FORMING HUNTING GROUP IN FRONT OF CANTINA". Just to be sociable and meet new folks I joined a few of those and got cloned or dropped far behind in a very short time frame.

I mainly hunt solo and unbuffed so if I meet a person or groupwhile out and about, I sort of play it by ear. I'm very choosy though as many times hunting I ended up with a person who is only in a rush for XP or so far over thier head that they usually drag entire agro spawns on top of me and well, it's a trip to the cloning facility.

Not to sound condicending or anything, but personally, when it comes to hunting, I like to control the situation best I can. Keeps me alive a little longer if that makes sense.

For 2+ years SOE and LA have taken our money to create a new game called SWG NGE instead of fixing the game we purchased. Remember that.
