Thread: Let us Cook the meat!!!
You guys really want to go cook the meat. Look at the second line of Keo's post.
Spend 15 points in Novice Artisan, then with all the general crafting xp we get from making camps and traps, spend the what, 2 points to get Dom Arts 1.
Cook meat.
How tough is that. There you go, you can make stuff with your meat. yay. No go concentrate on other issues with the ranger profession.
I don't understand this huge fixation on cooking meat. You don't got the 17 skill points, fine, sell your meat, buy skewers.
I want the ranger to its own profession. I don't want to work hard harvesting, camping, trapping, so I can do the exact same thing, only worse, than a newbie profession. That to me is not and advancement of our profession, it is a step back.
Does it make sense in real life that rangers should be able to cook their own food? sure it does. Does it make sense in real life that rangers are really compentant in the use of a gun? sure. Are both of these possible? yes. Go pickup the marksman and artisan trees, and stop asking for features of other classes to be put into ours. Especially, especially, especially dumbed down (weaker) versions of what other classes can do.
If you really want to cook meat, you'll make room for the 17 skill points so you can go cook meat. Otherwise, provide some worthwhile advice to improving our profession.
Cooking meat in the field IS worthwhile to our profession you dolt, it allows us to make our own basic food enhancers without needing novice artisan...
Our entire profession is nothing but enhanced scout anyways so how can throwing some artisan in hurt it? You dont need to get all pissy just because some people want to be able to cook their meat without spending more skill points on an entirely different class.
You mean you are asking for a feature in ranger that gives us basic food enhancers? wow, if only the ranger class had that, that would be cool...wait, we got that in scout, it is called forage.
Sorry for being pissy, but I don't really see the point. I don't want the table scraps of other professions (let alone newbie professions) be thrown into our class.
Sure, currently we are nothing more than scouts, with skill buffs. But I believe the core idea is that we want to improve the our profession, and I don't think adding in the same ability as another profession is a worthwhile addition.
Your argument to me is weak. What is your argurment? "I don't want to spend the 17 skill points required, so that I can make something with this resource I harvest off animals, so that I can get virtually the same benefit I can, if I use my /forage skill"
To me, I can make a similar weak argument. "Well, a ranger should be able to make his own clothes while in a camp, so he should be able to take the hide and bone that we get off of animals and make his own clothes."
So again I'll repeat, stop trying to add other professions skills to our own. Come up with new and better skill ideas and benefits to our profession.
Doh...Silly me not looking up the Artisan tree. I would be surpised if a lot of Ranger did not have Artisan, since Surveying is a nice way to make money. Our ability to get out into the wilderness and find nicer resource Deposits is invaluable.
So we get the Gen Crafting XP any way. What is another 2 skill points for a while.
