It has propossed several times (by non-IDers) that Image designers should get a new function of Disguise kits, these kits would reduce faction standing to 0
So I'm asking how does the proposed Disguise kits differ from Ranger's /conceal & camo kit?
If you had a -5000 thug standing and a camo kit on would a yellow Meatlumps ignore you?
Thanks

Sounds to me more like something a Smuggler would have than a Ranger. They can already "fix" their faction with bribes, so it seems more like their kind of thing.

No.. we need to fight for being camo'd and invisible to NPC's(until attacking of course). It makes sense.. regardless of what the devs "vision" is.

Conceal .. or camo kits will no longer work on NPCs... I don't know if they've nerfed it yet.. but they told us they will.

Why shouldn't a ranger be able to conceal himself from npc bystanders?? And who was the camo kit intended for, chefs? This is mindboggling.

You missed the debacle from the last Top 5 responses apparently, so here is the skinny for all you newcomers:

Top 5 Bug:

  • /conceal is not working properly against Humanoid NPCs

Developer Answer:

  • Rangers are a "creature" profession and /conceal isn't supposed to work against Humanoid NPCs

Community Retort:

  • The Outdoorsman Proposal

So...Right now/conceal is not "supposed" to work against Humanoid NPCs as deigned by the developers.

The future... That is another question.

Lol. I think they need to watch more westerns and Jeremiah Johnson a few times. Thx for filling me in, I did miss that whole episode.

What i find really interesting is that if you look up the new "redesigned" patch notes from the publish which gave us Conceal it actually SAYS:

" New Ranger command: /conceal This command gives the Ranger the ability to apply high quality camouflage to himself and others. The camouflage conceals the Ranger from creatures and NPCs. "

Why do they SAY is does in the patch notes, then tell us later it was never supposed too?

Image Designers could always craft the disguise kits to use upon others and also sell to Smugglers (who could use them wihout ID assistance but only on themselves).

Ranger camo would definitely be of the visible (camo fails) / invisible (either not seen or seen as a part of the environment such as a shrub or bush) type.

Since the initial implementation/conceal was released, new producers have taken the reins, Holocron was promoted, etc. etc. The new Powers That Bere-evaluated the role of the profession in the system and changed the direction for /conceal.

Obviously, very few members of the community held this new direction in high regard... Soby Thunderheart's request, wesubmitted a different vision of the profession (the Outdoorsman was the result), one that included concealment against humanoid NPCs.

Have nerfed. Been done and did and already NPC aggro you at 64m, regardless. As I said before, it has been this way for a month. The lowly swoop gangand hoolagan are always taking pot-shots at me (usually their LAST mistake). Mercs on Lok too.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

Dude, the devleopers looked at class balance, looked at our top 10 list, looked at the fact that nobody uses /conceal to hide from animals, and decided the best use of the developer resource would be in nerfing /conceal. Simple answer to a simple question

Yeah well, who wants to waste time making camo kits anyhow. Mask scent works great =b

Seriously, I would love to see the outdoorsman proposal or something similar implemented, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm used to sucking up the dev hate. It's a way of life.

must be player specific then. Camo on me breaks far less than maskscent on me (on average). There are times when my camo breaks quick, and there are other times where I can run around on a speederbike for a long time on Yavin IV and not have it break once. *shrug*

What does tick me off is when some frickin' hermit spider on Naboo breaks my camo when I've got 100 camo skill, but a blurrg raptor on Endor doesn't see me zoom past it.
