Usually if I'm in a moderate to small sized group I'll use them for the state effects as it does help. However, in large groups even the rancors fall like flies -they die so fast the trap really has little time to be of any good/difference.

Only Pdarts, and even then only if I'm soloing enraged rancors or something similar.

I had master trapper before anything. And I maxxed my trapping xp before i mastered ranger. It's set at 160k xp I think. I used traps ALL THE TIME even after master. Why? Maybe because I needed crowd control. I had a crate of every type of trap available. I had each one hotkeyed in my quickbar. The adhesive mesh stops them in their tracks and allows you to make some distance to regen/heal, or escape. This helped me tremendously when levelling TKA because I would make stupid mistakes from time to time. The state effects work great if the traps land because, well, a creature may be moreresistent to a tka's state effects. The adhesive mesh traps also help those in ranged professions. That way they don't get rushed by the creature. I found traps to be very useful against pikets. That and banthas. If I decide to go up Ranger again, I'll be able to go all the way up scout trapping with my xp, and possible halfway up ranger trapping. I'm one of the minority who finds traps useful.

Have to brush the dust off! I've only used them recently as an aid for group members in hunting parties.

I'm a master Ranger and a getting-there Pikeman. Because the Pikeman profession is fairly borked, it's fairly stupid to do more than one special during a fight, if you do any at all. Most fights end much better if Pikemen don't do any specials. So I'm kind of like the opposite of a TKA in that after I start attacking, all I have to do is keep it in range.
So, because I can't do specials, or it's unwise for me to do specials, I end up using a lot of traps. Even if I were playing a different melee profession, I'd probably do all my pulls with a Wire Mesh trap, because they're super cheap, they do help some, and it lets you pull from a distance without changing weapons. I tend to use sharp bone spurs pretty often. And of course, I use Adhesive Mesh traps to root adds. I love that trap.

Only occasionally with solo, or when with a second person taking on stuff yellow or better. But I don't hardly use the ranger traps. I use glow wire, and the Phecnacine dart to help kite stuff. I use the the adhesive mesh to save my or another rear end if something nasty is right on them.
But in groups, not at all, stuff doens't last long enough for it, and the stuff that does take a while to take down, traps don't work on.

I too use traps all the time. I find them useful in a number of instances. All the same traps mentioned here including Flash Bombs and Sonic Pulses to induce states. I find the state traps help the creatures from getting so tore up......especially when they're surrounded. Glow juice traps mainly because all the folks I hunt with use ranged weapons. Phen darts for obvious reasons and adhesive meshes to save them and myself from "sticky" situations. I've found them all very useful when used with the right tactics. I even use my Rescue skill to help the occasional damsel in distress......and it works like a charm. I'm looking forward to our future trapping abilities if Outdoorsman is ever implemented.

Phen Dart only.
Sad innit, a whole skill line that few of us seem to actually use.

I only use Phen dart and Glow wire on large creatures when soloing. Can kill most creatures before they get anywhere near me , so no need.
