LMAO!!

In all honesty, I believe any combat profession would be a great compliment to Ranger. Its all in your style of play and mindset.

The rifleman, true snipers of the game, creep upon unsuspecting prey. Pull the trigger and down goes the beast, all in hunter's tradition.

The carbineer, bold and courageous, walks up to the beast, stares it in the eye and puts it down on its knees, crippling it.

The pistoleer, swift and cunning, runs up and quickly fires multiple shots to the body in a blink of an eye. Dodging, weaving, blasting away till the creature is on the ground

The pikeman, brave enough to go toe to toe with multiple beasts, swings his staff knocking them all down to the ground giving him a great advantage.

The swordsman, with his trusty piece, deals such damage, the beast is bewildered as it falls to the ground.

The fencer, a risk taker, runs in face to face and deals swift blows to various vital regions, the beast unable to respond quick enough, collapses.

And finally, the martial artist, Teras Kasi Master. One with himself, one with nature. Adventurous and dauntless, he is the only combatant to take down a beast with his bare hands. True to the nature, he uses nothing but his body and mind to survive the roughs of the wild.

Oh, I didn't mention Commando, Bounty Hunter, or Smuggler basically because these professionsdon't use Ranger as their pride and true profession. These other combat classes belong in the cities and battlefieds. Plus, flame thrower in the woods = ashes.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

I have been wondering about this for a long time now. My guild say we can enver have enough rilfeman but honestly it is kinda getting boring and I woudl think I might be able to harvest faster with another prof. The thing is I get my idea od a ranger from theoldD&Ddays where they where a mix of range and melee. I truely do love the sniping concept but it does get old and it does have its limations. For expample I was hunting with a guildamte the other night in some caves on Dat. Both rifleman we found it to take twice as long to kill stuff because they would aggro and get in close, or we didnt have the range to make rifles worth it.

I'm really looking at something in the brawler tree as pistooler or carbineer dont draw me in at all.

In the brawler tree -

TKM - what I'm really looking at, but I'm afraid with being limited to one damage type it really hurts my hunting options like rancor ans stuff like that. But meditation woudl be so useful...

Swordman- no clue about this class, all I know is that they have a nice mix of different damage types

Fencer - same with swordsman, really good in pvp I hear. Other then that no clue

Pikeman - massive damage.... that is about all I know.

thanks all

going along with my post above... what would be a good HAM setup for say fencer/ranger or a TKM/ranger.

RIght now I'm still using my rifleman HAM setup of 400,400,400 400,400,400 1000,1000,1000.

And I'm not a person to get buffs unless I know I'm really going to need it... aka guild events, raids, things like that. For the most part my day to day haresting of meat and hides I do without buffs, but use brandy, canapes, and what not

For TKM/Ranger, you will want high action secondaries (and reasonable other secondaries) and really high mind (probably the 1100 cap). That lets you take full advantage of powerboost. For Fencer/Ranger, you will probably want to keep the mind lower and put more in health and action.

Asa TKM/Rangermy stats are set up to be 900/400/400, 900/400/400, 1000/400/600. To boost the substats (especially action), I use gammorrl, accarragm and scrimpi. With powerboost you get your substats up to a decent amount and can use quite a few speicals before you need to cool down and recharge you ham. I only get doc/entertainer buffs if I am going to be doing something extremely tough like the corvette and the DWB.

Even thou TKM is limited to only kinetic damage, their are other benefits. You have Meditation for healing your ham bars, curing poison/disease/bleeding. You should also consider the toughness and defensive bonuses you get at a TKM. There have been many times when I am hunting with other people and when the hunt is over, they have about 3-4 times the bf I have. This includes being rezzed by the doc a couple of times while tanking.

I believe a TKM/Ranger is acceptable cause of the ability to literally walk up to your prey unnoticed and touch them.

What better hunter than one that can walk up and simply pluck the hair off a deer instead of shooting it from 500m away?

The joy of the hunt is what a RAnger loves, and the ability to get in close and use your hands is what a TKM loves, thus, a relationship that works well together.

Want an example? Wolverine would be my closest example to a TKM/Ranger.

I remember in one episode of the X-Men comics when Wolverine did exactly what I said above, hunted a deer through the forest, snuck up and simply pluck a hair from his tail.

THAT is outdoormanship.

Welcome back btw.
