Thread: Where will you go now?
I'm keeping Second Life in mind as a way of making some pocket money.
I'm wondering about EVE because I'd prefare a hi-tech/sci-fi MMORPG. However, I beta tested EVE and found it as boring as reading a telephone book.
I just wish someone would make a BattleTech/MechWarrior MMORPG. If they do that, then I'll be in heaven.
Star Trek sounds interesting, although I can't see how they're going to pull it off, given that many people should be manning star ships, but need to log into real life sometimes!
I'm spending my time in Eve Online. Space is fantastic and there is crafting/business as well. NPC and PvP. I recommend it. I will be using BF2 for my Star Wars fix.

As I've said previously, games are beyond me at the moment due to having to revert to my 5y/o K6-2 box. Although once I have a new computer I'll give the NGE a test run for a month and take it from there. (Having said that, it's been good timing being without access to any games, because I'm in the process of researching for my MSc thesis).
Hehe good! How is it coming along?

That's also a good point, being able to convert to real US $ from game $ and reverse.

I was beta tester and long time player, but after 1.5 years (little longer) it became more and more PvP related. And all skills (new skills too) are all lineair in progress... For the PvE/Trader/Builder professions it wasn't fun.

in STO, what I've read so far, from the Dev Blogs, is that more people are/can beneeded to run 1 ship. I woulnd't mind that kind of grouping at all, cause it really fits the ST environment. Maybe, if players aren't around, or one doesn't want them, I can see the implementation of NPC employees

Yeah in STO nobody needs to group. You can fly the normal ships just fine and in end game just fine on your own with a few npcs filling the gaps or you can swap them for your friends. However, the big ships, the massive ones need lots of players to work together for them to work. Consider them a in game mechanic for a guild hall. Its going to be fun in that game for sure.

Well, I'm just getting started really. I've gotten access to my university proxy server, which means I can access campus-only journals from home, which is good considering my illness. Decided I'm going to try and write a review of current efforts to extend/refine the interpretation of Quantum Mechanics. One thing that keeps popping up is people using non-Hermitian operators but still have real eigenvalues! (Look it up on Wiki)
The uni has been pretty good, what with me taking a couple of years out for bad health and my supervisor leaving the university, things were looking pretty grim. Although I'm now starting to feel like I can actually do this, which is a feeling that was absent even before I was ill!

That's also a good point, being able to convert to real US $ from game $ and reverse.Yeah, and it's not against the rules either! I haven't played it yet. That's something else that's waiting for the fabled new computer, I've got an idea for a business though

Ah, so in that case, if I want another space-opera type MMORPG, I'll return to JumpGate then - It's like JTL, but has a proper physics engine

Maybe see you there then

Role playing? What role playing? Sounds like it's going to be a first-person shooter..... and a REALLY crappy one at that....
