What do you want found? Meat? Hide? A Pirate? Eight Graul Marauders? Do you want a big tent put up for a wedding?
I would also add what type of organic resource. Nothing is more fun that making your way to one of the out-of-the-way planets just to find out that the resource shifted.

Thats very true give us the name of the resource. Because if you say "Yavin Wooly" and we see "OQ 868 SR 760" and assume this was the one you want. You wont be happy because the day before it was "OQ999 SR897". Help us so we can help you

Sure one does Calc because as we have learned. The people who need the stickies most dont see above the big black line seperating them from the current threads

They don't really see the ones below it either, though.

My story of the Hero of Tatooine quests:
I've got Tracking IV. I've spend 4 hours tracking for the spawns and came up with nothing. However, I do now have the ring and all the badges. How? Simple, got the boar and the farmer thanks to /planet chat and the pirates thanks to /guildchat. Ran into the BH shuttling into Mos Eisley.
Moral of the story: Spend you money buying resources from us, we enjoy hunting. Most of us do not enjoy wandering in the desert answering a frequent "Have you found him yet?" Keep an eye on planet chat and be ready to drop everything andrace to a waypoint as it pops up on it. It's cheaper and has more chance of succeeding.

And please, if you want us to track for you, be polite AND flexible! I'm based on Tatooine, and at least once a week I get a tell from someone wanting me to track the moisture farmer, pirates or boarsfor them. I've only been available on the spot once, so the other times I've told them, "Sorry, I'm not available tonight, do you want to set up a time for another day?" Responses have ranged from silence to swearing me out to begging, pleading and trying to guilt me into it. Silence is, by far, the preferable of the three. Only one guy said he'd get back to me in a few days, and I never heard from him again. (He was polite, at least.)
Most Rangers have something they do in game besides Ranger skills. I'm also a TKM, Merchant and Architect, and I do surveying as well as being an avid miner/farmer. Remember, folks, we're not NPC's--we have lives, too!
And please--please don't make our pay dependant on results. We can't control the spawns, we can only find them--maybe. Perhaps. If we're lucky. If they're up. If you're contracting with me, telling me you'll give me 50k now and another 500k when we find the farmer is zero incentive for me, because we never find the farmer. (I've found him once.) Simply offer to pay us for our time (and if we happen to find what you're looking for, feel free to give us a big fat tip while you're in the throes of joy
).
(Side note: If you want to find the farmer, pirates or boars, find a way to be on after server up one day. Don't wait until Friday night. Unless you're The Lucky One, you simply won't find them.)
Finally, if we're harvesting organics for you, trust what we tell you about them. Do your homework, or let us educate you. Listen to us when we tell you that we can't guarantee large amounts of Lokian wooly hide. (If you want a guarantee of large amounts, contract for Dath leathery.) Trust us when we tell you we can only get 1-2k of Dantooine Herbivore meat a night because we can only hunt leser bols right now--I'm not lazy, I'm just a Carbineer!
(I think many people don't realize that Rangers are not a combat class.)
--it comes from one very rare, non-mission creature that drops only low amounts. Don't tell us we're lying or nuts or lazy just because the last Ranger you dealt with got you 15k hides in a day (of Dath leathery, no less!). And trust us if we say, "I can't hunt pikets yet, just lesser bols, so sorry,I can't get more than a few thousand meat a day." I'm not lazy, I'm just a Carbineer!

I always have to wonder why people ask that. I suppose they think I'll see him and just keep driving.
...actually, I suppose I could, and steer my paying client away from the farmer while telling my guildmates where to find him, but I have yet to meet a Ranger with such a complete lack of honor. If you don't trust me not to do that, then why did you hire me?

Need to hire a Ranger/Scout? Fill out this handy form and post it on your server board, because "hiring ranger 4 meat" does not tell us much! (Honestly, it's easier for some people to do a fill in the blank than to remember to post all the details. Hey, some of us are senile. Get off my lawn.)
- - - (post subject line below)
Hiring Ranger for ____ units of __________ (<--insert resource/service there)
- - - - (post body below)
Your in-Game Name:
We have to have *some* way to know who you are, even if your sig changes!
Server:
Included because people are bound to post it on the Ranger board anyway.
Type of resource/service needed:
Be specific: "Yavin carnivore meat, current shift," "Naboo leathery hide, any shift,"
"avian bones of any kind," "tracking the Hero Quest spawns," "surveying"
Quantity sought:
Be specific: "10k, 100k, unllimited"
Paying:
Be specific: "15 cpu," "bonus bump to 20 cpu for amounts over 10k," "500k/hour for tracking"
Contract Length:
Be specific: "For current shift only," "Ongoing," "Neverending," "Tracking any night this week"

Do not, and I mean not start to cuss out the ranger you are trying to hire if you do not want to pay the price he sets for a given server. That is counter productive. Often we are nice people if you treat us well, some are prehaps a bit grumpy for being out in the wilderness with a rifle and a droid for so long, but the rest of us are nice people once you get to know us.
So if you are going to do buisness with us be polite, do not send tells out of the blue and expect us to drop everything we are doing to track a sillly spawn for you for 30K and please understand that we cannot track what is not spawned. This isn't EverQuest Rangers we're talking about, Tracking takes time. And lastly, realize our time is worth something to us, thus the price of our services will often reflect that. Respect that and pay what we ask. Or bugger off and leave us alone with your silly tells for some silly lost farmer in the middle of no where.
