Hallo and thanks for all the kind words, mates! You guys are very supportive.
I'll try my hand at making another one of these things at some point in the future.
As for questions:
(1) Yep yep, I did use FRAPS (http://www.fraps.com) to capture the video. I used plain old Windows Movie Maker (it's free) for the editing, and the Windows sound recorder (also free) to capture the musician playing western. So it was all low-tech, took about a day all-told to make, most of the time coming in editing and in figuring out how best to optimize my in-game options for the FRAPS capture. Anyway, it was a blast, a little more work than I anticipated, and I learned some things that'll help next time I give movie-making a go.
(2) The rifle is indeed a berserker, a heat rifle made from loot obtained from a vette mission. I'm a big fan of rifleman because it has such a wide variety of damage types available, and it suits my mode of hunting very well. That particular rifle is a load of fun.
(3) Interestingly since the movie URL has been passed around I've received a load of requests to make movies for people who have all kinds of stories in mind, but I'm inclined to stick with the ranger theme instead. Maybe tackle the ranger in space theme next. And hey, all that stuff that the game mechanics won't let us rangers do, I can always fake and re-imagine in my own movie, heh (traps that do a little more is going to be first on my personal list).
Happy hunting mates!
