Thread: Rifleman + Ranger = Good combo?
Actually if its just for PvE, Ranger TKM has got alot of good pts to it. my MCH TKM can solorancors without pets and because its so close to everything, i get first picking at the spoils of war. PvP wise is a problem though because of kiting. you cant match that against a master rifleman. Now...if you were a master rifleman tkm...... lol

This is the RP template. The "master hunter" type. You don't do that template because of any actual "uberness". In fact, it displays the actual fallacy of "RIfleman is uber" for all to see, you can't get enough skill points to gather the rest of the template that actually is the uberness.
If you are looking for the best performance, given Master Ranger, you may be best served mastering TKA and factoring in as much med as you can get. That is a nice, compact skill set with enough utility for most of the PvE situations and a nice PvP one given you might not be the best there but can contribute. Now, I'm not saying Rifleman is a poor choice, I might give that to Carbineer or maybe Pikeman. No, far from it. What I did, was get a bit of CH for the meat shield (you can get up to CL19) and use RIfleman for the damage half. You can't quite solo Rancors like a TKM but you can get a few, and sometimes get lucky with a rancor or two. CL 19 pet won't last long enough against a lair of 3 Mutant Rancor Bulls but you shouldn't be able to do that consistantly.... maybe if you are lucky and clever. I have seen TKM to this, solo.
I have gotten some nice damage rolls while my friends all kept the critters occupied. Very nice damage rolls
. They are not all that common tho, and I die pretty quick still if I get too close to the action (PSG and SImba there to gaurd me for those times). It could be worse, but they finally got rid of that 250% damage mod. Till now I would have never recomended Rifleman.
Master Ranger / Master Rifleman can solo Rancors very easily. You can quite often drop them with a mind attack from the prone position before they can even aggro and charge you. If you do get charged, Dathomir has straight up and down hills that they simply can't catch you on. I have kited 3 at once and dropped them ALL very quickly using AOE /strafeshot2 and a bit of Rhyscate.
I can't speak to PvP as I avoid it like a Jawa avoids the Tusken Fort, but all my PvP friends are dropping pistols for rifles, so that must mean something.

If you are solo, the creature corpses will usually stay around long enough to harvest. If they are particularly tough, and there are a lot of them, you may have to move in for a harvest before finishing off a wave, but not usually.
If you are in a group, just make sure that the close in group members DON'T harvest before the wave is dead. If one person pulls a harvest, then the decay time drops from several minutes to like 30seconds.
Ranger/Rifleman = the most efficient effective hunter. This is not to diminish the other combat professions. You should play what you enjoy and not let anyone else sway you otherwise. But from a purely statistical view of efficient resource gathering, I will stack my Master Ranger /Master Rifleman against ANY other combination in the game.

My vote goes for not mastering ranger. Sorry guys, it's just not worth the effort and/or skill points at this stage of the game. My template:
0400 Carbineer
0400 BH
0040 Ranger
Love the tracking tree. Maybe if the devs give rangers some love, I'll consider mastering it. Until then, this is a template to be reckoned with.
