Thread: what!? 400m tracking?

I hate having to mouse over dots to see what they are. I can never get it centered right, and if I happen to have a waypoint up, it likes to tell me what the waypoint is, even if the waypoint is off the radar and I'm way away from the edge. It's fine at 32m or 64m, but after that, it becomes pretty much useless to me. Tracking for the win.

When you're looking for a particular lone critter though, tracking is slower from what i've seen. You have to dismount.

Quicker for me to expand my radar and ride around, doing a mouseover on the dots.

okay, simple work around to having to dismount to track:

before you leave, type /areatr,

do this 15 times

now, any time you want to, even mounted, click on one of the tracking tabs and choose what you want to track (you can't be moving). you never has to dismount. there you go. Tracking while on a vehicle, mount, etc.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Hehe, like hitting Ctrl + N whenever I want to copy parts of other posts and assemble them into a single post?

Impressive. Most impressive.

Mount tracking macro -

/dismount;
/pause 1;
/areatr;
/pause 1;
/mount

You may or may not need the pauses, its been a while. You'll need to keep your mount targeted for the /mount on the end to work.

I've also hit /areatrack like 10 times, then hit ALT to go back to look mode. You just go back to mouse mode when you want one. Not done that in forever but it works. I guess you need to be useing the 'normal' SWG key map.

One other thing you can do is max out your object name range and your viewing distance and then turn on all object names. This lets you scan for things visually from a distance. Don't do this in a city though (unless you have really nice hardware).
