Wow, I only have to smell one wet wookie regularly, and that's more then enough.

I feel for you...

**WARNING** Long post with my dreams about the Ranger profession attached **WARNING**

Actually I would like something similar to a crossbow that used a removeable clip or magazine that could be swapped out depending on what type of damage you need.

Poison (damages all 3 pools at the same time tho not as strong as CM poison and not as high damage as bleed shots)
Kinetic (standard crossbow bolts)
Energy (like a bowcaster)
Explosive
Acid
Cold
Heat

The Ranger should be the master at knowing the weaknesses of each creature and how to exploit those weaknesses. The crossbows could be made as all 3 types (pistol, carbine, and rifle) and all 3 catagories special attacks could be used (pistol uses pistol, rifle uses rifle, etc...). The basic design of the crossbow is already in the game with the bowcaster so it shouldnt be TOO hard to design new ones. The ammo clips would come out of the crafting kit with charges (10 round clip, 20 round magazine, whatever) and are inserted into the crossbow like inserting a powerup. The clip or magazine can be removed at any time and the remaining charges (shots) are NOT lost. When you run out of the special ammo types, the crossbow reverts automatically to kinetic bolts till you add a new clip.
The ranger should be able to make the weapons and ammo with components gleaned from hunting and foraging. Have the basic weapons makeable at novice and the different ammo types spread out up the survival tree (or whatever its called now), to give a few extra exp to get up that slow moving camping line.

I also think that rangers of master level should have the ability to choose a "Bane" creature. The creature type that they have studied all their life and know the exact **edit** in the armor of. When they fight that creature, they gain a 5% bonus in damage to that creature. This can only be chosen ONCE (even if you give up master and then make master again) so you must choose wisely. There may be the possibility of changing your bane creature if new mobs are added to the game at a later date by the devs. You may have to wait a month after the creature comes out before you can drop your bane creature and then wait 1 month more before you can choose a new type. This would amount to you studying everything about this "new species" for a few months and learning all there is to know about it before knowing the best way to defeat it.

Anyway, these are my dreams of how a Ranger should be.

All I want for Christmas is to be able to trap pets in PvP.

That should be our role in PvP. Not that I do it all that much, only when the need arises. But wow, to be able to P-dart a butt scratching squill and then adhesive it, then open a can of whoopazz on it. Maybe get my commando friend to flame it... yanno anything tastes ok with BBQ sauce on it.

Sigh... I don't wanna be a Jedi, I wanna play Ranger for a good long while. I just want to be what we are spozed to be, the balance to the CH. Oh well, back off to the weeds.

And saucy pics of Alyson would not be bad either.

No offense, but what kind of a weapon would an unarmed Ranger get?? Weapon specific is great if you are ranged, but don't forget about us TKAs.

Maybe this is a way for TKA to get ranged

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

I imagine that the ranger specific weapon would not be based on the normal weapon type xp, but on the level of the ranger specific skill.

A Master Ranger (master pistoleer) would have the same skill with the ranger weapon as a Master Ranger (master TKA). This would also allow a little bit more flexibility to the melee classes as well.

Just my idea and no offense is ever taken brother ranger

I want traps that are more functional, and more importantly, fun to use and not a huge risk to use. I really like all the other ranger abilities, and I find getting the other types of experience to be fun and painless, usually doable within my normal range of gameplay activities, so I don't have to "grind" to get them, per se. But trapping almost always gets me killed, unless I'm in a huge group of people, but in those situations usually I get maybe one trap off before everyone else kills the thing, and TKAs can make all the same effects the traps can, and quicker (except maybe the root.. that one is always popular, but doesn't last nearly long enough).

So.... all I want for Christmas is better traps. The trapping skill line is the weakest link in our absolutely awesome profession.

I could live with that. I don't want to have to give up my melee skills to use a bow and arrow.

i want to make myself a cabin. or at the very least, a ted kazynski shack. A semi-permanant home. a base of operations for long trips into the wilderness. you put it up, and you can call up your critters, or rest and heal. Basically its a camp, but you can run off and kill things, and it wont disband. It would take substantially more resources (naturally) maybe even wood.

speaking of wood, how come i cant chop into a tree to get it? not that its necissary, but if this cabin idea is used...

i once drempt of a little shanty-house. Like in third-world countries. scrap tin roofs, slabs of boards tossed together. a place to hang my hat (or extra hat, as it may be). It would be like a house, but instead of payin matinence, you would pay in materials to keep fixing it.

man oh man, that would be so sweet, especially cuz i make ZERO money. hehe, too much to see in the game to worry about money... too much to do, you can only kill nightspiders for so long.

Hmm... We should be able to kill creatures with out any weapons outside of our tree. Ranger lvl traps should be able to kill, or not even ranger lvl traps all traps, but they can only kill at once Trap Master is reached (Thus making that skill box useful.). The damagecould scale up based on trapping lvl. Thats all i want. Sure we are the masters of creatures, but we cant kill them without a side profession.
