Thread: Are there any TKA/Rangers out there!

Personally, no, I'd never pick a ranged class over TK. The only "ranged" weapons I have are traps and they're pretty effective. My satisfaction comes from trapping a mob and while my group pegs away from a safe range, I stand toe-to-toe with said mob, pounding away with my TK skills (3.3.3.2).

Jeez, had no idea I was such a cardboard cut-out of the rest of you guys

I was a Master Ranger (1 Box from), CH, TKA, but the combination proved untenable for me personally. This particular mix is gawdawful at pvp, so if you have any inclinations to fighting other players, don't go this route. The pets you can use withthis limited skill point investment in CHget gunned down faster than a novice chef, and you're not left with enough fighting prowess for TKA to be particularly lethal. I'd say go Ranger/TKA, or CH/TKA, but don't try to mix all 3 unless you really, REALLY don't plan to pvp - ever.

In pve, you can do very well, but you'll never do AS well as most of your peers who aren't spread so thinly over the skill points. That's why I dropped Ranger, because the 140 skill point investment was just too darn much for me. I'm currently heading towards Master CH (which I might drop, gads I'm getting sick of everybody being a CH) and Master TKA, but I'm not sure how that will pan out, either - I got creamed last night by a pack of NPC stormtroopers (mostly my own fault there, though).

You can Master Commando with Teras Kasi, if you really want to kick serious @$$ and do nothing else. Ranger is a great support profession, but it's a huge investment of points for a bunch of abilities that basically amount to secondary stuff - think hard before choosing to master the Ranger profession, unless you're a total solo and/or pveplayer. ~J

Question?

As a MR/TKA, how do you guys hold up in PvP and PvE?

Can you hunt even the deadliest of creatures? Has anyone fought a kryat?

I am a Trandosion

TKA 1/4/4/2

Ranger 2/4/4/0

CH 3/2/1/1

I really like this combo. The CH allows me and my tank pet really take things down. Even creatures that BAF. I let my Graul Mauler attack first, everything agros on him. With his 75% kinetic resist he can take that damage. I jump in attack one creature, of course he turns on me since I am now doing the most damage. The GM keeps the other creatures attention. I just take them down one by one.

The only change I think is needed: The To-Hit-Bonus that scouts/rangers get only applies to ranged attacks. Melee attacks do not get his bonus.

You can still have taming and training 1 at master TKA/master Ranger. Will allow you to use 1 non-aggro pet up to level 25.

Trandoshan TKA 0.2.2.1 Ranger 2.1.3.3 with artisan, marksman, and medic novices and misc skills currently... lets me do more as i try to acquire the 3mil unarmed exp we need.

For me, ranger is going much faster, but that is mostly due to my play style... 90% of my kills involve trap/punch/skin, so by the time i finished my survival exp, i had enough scouting and trapping to jump from master scout to 1.0.1.2 ranger.

In PVE, i don't think there is a better combo, since traps have decent range for drawing creatures, and provide debuffs to assist in the conservation of HAM that TKs need unless they like juggling vibroknucks.

Once corpse retrieval is back in use, I think we'll see alot of 'ems' calls asking us to help retrieve corpses, since we can fight darn well in our bvd's, and sneak by most critters that others steer clear of.

Also, currently everyone is certified to use the c12 grenades... only a 30m range, but still more than adequate to give a bit of hurt to the humanoids that aren't affected by poisons strong enough to stun a bull shanriff.
