I think it probably was the equipped rifle slowing me down, that's the only thing I didn't think to unequip and completely forgot that now carrying a weapon hinders you as well. D'oh! Right now from the various testing I have done, there is really no viable Solo Ranger.
Ranger now needs the support of say a Combat Medic, get together a group of at least 3 people, and one Combat Med. Really to augment anygroup you need a combat medic, or perhaps a doctor. Combat meds get various mass healing abilities and a ability to light things on fire which is very powerful.
An Ideal group of 8 would Defenitely have a combat medic. Here is one such Ideal group.
- Master Ranger / Master Carbines (Because I love Ranger, though I wish TKM was still as powerful with it)
- Master Combat Medic / Master Commando / 0/0/3/0 In Carbines (giving the leg shot) This person is very strong, use Acid Stream Launcher at distance or Plasma Flamethrower Close up)
- Double Elite Combat Prof (Melee)
- Double Elite Combat Prof (Melee)
- Double Elite Combat Prof (Melee)
- Double Elite Combat Prof (Melee)
- Double Elite Combat Prof (Ranged)
- Master Doctor / Ranged Profession
Thats one possible viable group, there are tons of others. Right now without using alot of stimpack d's you need a Master Combat Medic in the Group to provide healing, and even the ability to rez.
Oh wonderful, now Bugfin and Chimera are being rolled-back to Monday, which means everyone who did last-minute grinding because of the last-minute decisions by SOE will be for nothing. It's like they are trying to get rid of the customers that don't have patience or something.
I won't be able to test the CU until Monday after noon. I just hope that I will be able to play then, since finals are the week friggin' after.
I have a lot of stink bombs, L-Darts, and Endor/Dath/Tatooine camo kits. I'll do some testing, but again, not much. I won't be paying to beta-test this. I just hope that this downtime for these two servers is because the Devs realized what mistakes were made in our conversion process of pets and items.
I'm not opposed to the CU in the least bit. However, I'm a little upset with a few things. Yes it is fantastic that we cap higher than before once we finish at least one full tree in ranger. 450k not bad. The problem is, we're still getting the same scouting xp as before and it's ALMOST impossible to efficiently dispose of bigger, badder creatures for the bigger, badder xp. I'm not saying we should be able to cap out quickly, I'm merely stating that it's a bit frustrating trying to do these last 1.5 boxes of FS xp using the profession I love the most.

ok now that that's out of the system... Not bad. It's kind of fun worrying about dying again. I definitely like the fact we don't need buffs either. One can still solo juvenile, and canyon krayts, but I'm sure that'll change. Oh, and ancient bull rancors are pretty much 1 hit killers if you're on the receiving end.
