Well, am going to invoke the "I Didn't Know No Better, Sir" defence here...
away back, awaaaaaaaaay back when I was just starting out, I was changing over from a totally passive non-combat artisan (with just the barest amount of marksman to let me get hides and save me from beasties when I was out tending harvesters) I spent what felt like weeks killing nuna in the western dune sea.
With a CDEF carbine.
And a worn out pair of compo armour pants.
Well, I figured they'd only be able to bite my legs and if they were covered...
I ground most of master marksman on nuna.
THEN, after weeks and weeks, somebody explained buffs and introduced me to sludge panthers. LOL
Oh, and the meat was rubbish. I'd no idea about stats either...

The best suggestion I've seen is to subcontract out to people trying to level Scout. You may not make as much, but you should be able to harvest more than you would by yourself. I haven't tried it myself, though.

Another strategy is to find someone who is doing the "scorched earth" to the sea on Tatooine and tell them you will take the Avian off their hands. There are a few of us out roaming around, standing there looking around at the sea of legged and non-legged protoplasms that consider the Krayt T-21 and the Disrupters more like vacuum cleaners that weapons.
I make every animal is dead in my path at times from Oasis to Eiseley going after meat, bone and hide (camo kits ya know). There is a huge population of nunas and kreetles out there that get dead real good when i mosey by. If someone was to stop me and say "howdy Ma'am, would you happen to have any Avian on you that I could lighten your load?" I'd trade it off to make room for more Krayt tissues, sure.
Too many other happy joyful little animals are skipping along in my crosshairs for me to dwell on 15 units of nuna in the 500 meters behind me. But that's just me.

Rori, eh?
Do animals still live on Rori? last time i was there it looked like some overzealous powergrinded killed all creatures on Rori into extinction.
No animals.. lots and lots of surprisingly wellfed bothan diplomats though.
We can only speculate what gruesome plans the bothanplanetkillers have in store for us..
Shave the bothans!!! what are they trying to hide from us?
