Ok I think this is a good idea.

Give us a bow that we can add traps to give status effects. Make it only work on creatures. The bow will give us a cover bonus. So basically if we use the bow instead of a rifle/pistol/tk or whatever it is less likely for us to get aggroed.... This can be our uuber creature hunter weapon..... Something that only Rangers can use that will it so we can hunt better then anyone else and more easily, but since it will only work on creatures it wouldn't throw anything out of balance.... Well my two scents.....

Then, the roots of my fantasy-filled youth (I'm only 19, but whatever) struck the waters of creativity in the soil science calls my brain, and I thunked up the most crazy notion of bringing a Bow and Arrow to Star Wars Galaxies.

I'd much rather eat meat, or work with bone and hide that hadn't been burnt to a cinder.

In a galaxy that caters to both the technological blaster, and the vibro-enhanced blade, why couldn't such a weapon work?

So, here's my proposition to kindle a nearly dead profession. Give the Rangers a Bow and Arrow.

"But, if my blaster has a hard time killing it, what would a measly arrow do!?"

Ah! That's where we electronically enhance the bow, and install tiny vibro motors in to the arrowhead.

Well this is an interesting idea and sure I'm up for some "ranger only" hunting weapons that would help take out prey. The one thing that does come to mind and especially so if you've ever hunted is you cannot expect to use the same weapon for each game. A .22 rifle is fine for rabbit or bird (if you like the challenge ) but wouldn't do much to a deer. On the same note, a bow and arrow would more than likely be too much for a bird yet work fine for a deer. I would never conceive the thought of hunting a bear with a bow and arrow as if you miss or don't inflict an incapacitating wound on your first strike you run the risk of the bear attacking you. This is where a high powered scoped rifle would come into play. You can safely take down the bear from 300m+ using an 8mm or .308 round and faster than you could from a tree stand using a compound bow.

Now, being that Star Wars Galaxies is a game and basically based on fictional data many real world things would apply. Not all creatures have the same vulnerabilities so having different weapons is a great choice. Also, as rangers we should have tons more options under the trapping line as to using anything from classic snares to pungi pits or something to drop our prey as quick as possible with the least amount of effort. How much would the development team be willing to add, this is something we probably cannot answer. Many of us in the ranger profession would like more options to help us harvest more and take down creatures faster and easier as we are the masters of the outdoors. With that said I leave you with this question; if we are masters of the outdoors why do we not get to craft fishing poles and why don't get bonuses to fishing?
