Depends really. If you are within the creature's aggro/detection range you'd better have maskscent or camo on AND use /concealshot. If you attack from >64m then the rifleman /concealshot will be all you need. Just don't forget that IF you miss twice while attacking the same creature that it'll be charging you in a hurry. That's why I have a /aim;/concealshot macro so that I aim before every conceal........and I think it's very much worth the delay/cost to aim first.

Another nice tip for hunting using rifle is:

  • /Prone gives me around 7 auto fire shots before the creature agros

  • /Maskscent+ /Prone gives me around 12-15 auto fire shots before agro

  • /Conceal+ /Prone gives me around 17-20 auto fire shots before agro

Auto fire shots dont seem too special and the abliity not very clever, BUT consider using a t21 of 550 on an enemy and youll be hitting for well over 1k per shot (my average is about 1.2k with the right resists and AR) so thats 20k+ random pool damage before you even get attacked.

This technique might be worth considering when you are out there on your own with no tanks. Couple that with the rifleman's ability to single pull a target from a pack from ranges of 50m+ you can often kill a creature surrounded by its sociable friends without even causing agro. Then just run in and harvest or with the new droid, stay prone lol and let the droid work

Not exactly my experience. Camo and prone seems to allow me to miss up to 6 times before being noticed. Camo and concealment do seem to be cumulative. However, I have experienced "oddities" where Kreetles will always break my camo. On the high level mobs it is quite effective but I think there is a "wrap around" in the numbers for a low-level.

I tend to go for HS3 over conceal shot, that is more effective and faster at master. Going up the lower novice trees it(conceal shot)is probably what can keep you competitive with other professions, as a novice is woafully underpowered untill master and you have to use that to kill things solo. You will have to live with being slower then the rest till then, however. Oddly, at master rifleman it's completely the opposite.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

I think they are both in effect. If the creature detects you after using camo, you will get a messages saying so. If this happens, he could argo just the same as if you were standing in the area not doing anything to him. Also, if you exceed your number of shots you can get with your cover he will argo you from knowing that he is being shot at. Rifle concealment just hides you from his friends. However, if you use concealshot, you can shoot at it all day as long as your camo is working.
