That answers NOTHING.. enough with that description being used to answer everything.

We can track people because we are masters of the environment, or at least should be anyway lol. Humanoids leave tracks same as animals. For people saying BH's should have this ability, thats why they have droids...I get the same argument from CH's complaining about our examine capabilities...the reason why its that way is because SOE wants the different professions to be able to compliment each other to encourage grouping for increased effectiveness. By letting our tracking skill monitor player and NPC movements it helps add something that Rangers can offer that is different from the other professions including scouts.

And regarding players though, it is somewhat useful for PvP but not terribly so unless someone is trying to hide somewhere. If oyu have someone on the move trying to attack you, by the time you complete a scan and read their location, they'll already be practically on top of you heh.

Why is it that we as Rangers can track people? I can understand being able to track people in general, but individual people?

I know this has become a decent money making ability for some people (services for BH's), but it doesn't seem right that we can track people by name. That should only be done with a seeker droid. If we lose the ability to track players,it will keep BH's from having just another added benifit of super harvestor. Just a thought..

Agreed this should be a Bounty Hunter ability. Take it away but fix our other problems.

Take it away? You gotta be kidding me. Tracking people is awesome! And it gives a much needed PvP skill. We often track down Imperials who have attacked us our friends. It's so much fun. And it isn't out of character to track individual people either. Even in Westerns Cowboys would use Indian trackers to hunt down individual. I say keep Tracking people AND fix our other problems.

I can play one star rating game too japhy. That in fact does answer it, this is star wars, the antarian rangers were part of that. I suggest you read a bit about them. Masters of the environment, able to aid jedi in ny way possible, even tracking people, although i suspect the purpose a BH and ranger would ahve in doing so would be quite different, BH prolly want to kill them, ranger would prolly be trying to find a lost friend or rescue someone who is incapped and injured.

Antarian rangers also fought in the clone wars, i highly doubt it was to subdue creatures or track creatures.

I find the benefits of Tracking, with the list of names far, far better than 'Lair of Womp Rats'... Why? Because I am CH and it is hard to find babies, /areatrack has made my life a lot easier. Attacking a lair, rarely spawns babies and usually just results in a CH being killed (ranger has soaked a lot of skill pts that are no longer available for combat).

Truncating the list to general would make Tracking vaguely useful. Also find it handy for locating Trainers!

You find a lair or spawn and I'll bet that you find babies 99% of the time.

You may have to thin the herd to get some to spawn, but they will spawn.

If you can't kill the creatures in question, just walk about 200m to 300maway and return. There will most likely be a fresh spawn of creatures at the lair/spawn.

Don't base our Ranger ability on your desire to find babies for a whole seperate profession...

I am a Creature Handler as well, and I can appreciate the ability to use this to find babies, but I also know how the spawn system works. If there is a lair, there will be babies at some point. Just be patient.

If you did any amount of Frontiering, you should know the meaning of patience!

TRACKING PEOPLE IS AWESOME!!! WHY YOU WANT TO TAKE IT AWAY FROM US?

Rangers can track people because they can read enviroment signals to guess who or what is round. Yes it is strange that you can say the name, but IT HAS TO BE THAT WAY cause otherwise the skill would be worhtless. It wont be useful if it said 'Someone who is a wookie is North 324'. Anyway, if u want to make up a logical reason on why this could be done,I could say that the Rangercan have access on adatabasein his datapadwhere he inserts the information about footprints (which will give info about height and weight), scents, race related trails, garment cloth left away, hairDNA analisis and then thedatabase shows up the name of the player. Hell you can even do that NOWADAYS! why couldnt a Ranger do it in the future? . My referall about DNA sampling is not meaningthat then it should be a Bio Engineer thing cause for recovering the footrpints, scents, hair samples and other pieces of the puzzle to insert in such databaseis required a guy with sharp skills on gathering raw trail info from the environment.

So there u go, as well as this explanation you can find many other plausible ones. But the thing is that the explanation is just an excuse that will make the Player Tracking possible and viable, but you gotta remember that this i just a game. And not everything in a game has to have an explantion. Anyway if u wanted one about why could a ranger track a player with its name here is one and i'm sure you can figure out many other possible and viableexplanations, as much asthe imagination of a guy who plays a science fiction gamescan imagine.

About your concern being a BH and wanting to track players too, if you pay attention to the skill trees and amount of total skills points, THERE IS NOTHING PREVENTING THE BH TO MASTER BOUNTY HUNTING AND WORKING ALL THE WAY UP TO TRACKING 4. THERE ARE ENOUGH SKILL POINTS TO DO SO. So if a Bounty Hunter wants to track players by analizing the player's tracers in the surrounding, then go ahead, be my guest, work you way up and you will have it. Actually i think that would be the ultimate Bounty Hunter, a very cool thing to do.

from a BH POV it wouldnt matter unless PC bounty ever came about. a good BH only uses one probe droid to find the planet and one seeker to find the mark. areatrack for a bounty mark npc is useless unless your within 500 meters of the mark. at higher levels our seekers track the target and provide continual feedback. so yeah would be great if we ever got PC bounty but till then its a moot point.

I like the tracking as far as animals are concerned, but I do find the fact that I can track Evil Hermits and Hermits separately silly. List the race of the people and players we track, keep it interesting.
