I think it is BOTH # of posts and time registered. I know Veteran is based on 100 posts AND 6 months. I would venture that Elder is something like 250 posts and 8-10 months registered. But, I may be way off.

You're absolutely right, because when I looked at people's names I was here longer than most in these forums - last night I hit the 250 mark, and saw my rank increase.
250 posts and X months.

Its 250 posts for an elder with the alloted time. I already had the time just need the posts. So how much time is needed?
