my only use for the XP was as an indication that maskscent had worked. now I get no message and it doesn't deactivate when I get detected. (You can tell you've been detected because you get attacked)

Actually I have absolutely NO issues with this latest patch, except the /maskscent change.

Though I used to enjoy getting some scouting xp when travelling by changing course a bit to get within KoS mobs' range and get that little xp (though on some planets I was getting hundreds), I don't miss not having the xp that much. It was fun to prone sneak into some really dangerous lairs just to see that I could and what kinda xp I would get though, but that's ok.

What DOES bug me is the 'no warning' attacks. At least bring back the 'a creature has detected you' warning if something sees you, even if it doesn't break /maskscent, and DEFINITELY give it if /maskscent has actually broken for all mobs.

And in the future it would be great if Rangers got some sort of /track ability, so I could go out and search for certain types of mobs. This has nothing to do with the current Explore missions (though it could be fun), I just like to kill certain types of mobs that annoy me, or if an artisan needs me to harvest a type of hide or bone I could use my superior hunting knowledge to know what type of terrain, climate, etc. a creature with those attributes would live in and be able to go find one or more (with some sort of difficulty involved of course).

Other than that I'm very pleased with the Ranger profession. It suits my style of play perfectly.

I never get attacked anymore...

I have 105 camo, soon to be 115 when I reach Master Ranger...(I am Bothan, I get a bonus to camo)

I AM NOW THE INVISIBLE BOTHAN! I CAN NOT BE DETECTED!

That's cool and all, but I still miss the XP.

In general throughout the entire Scouting/Ranger line, the methods of getting XP are severley limited to begin with, so to say you don't mind losing another method of getting XP makes no sense to me...

As with EVERYTHING in this game there is no balance...

Can't they give us a % of the creatures HAM bar for XP? (or whatever a good formula would be?)

Then just adjust the failure rate to a little less then perfect?

These guys have no finesse whatsoever...

They love to burn the house down to get rid of their ant problems.

BTW this no fail maskscent ability of mine is GONNA get nerfed, no doubt about it...

they will make it fail 95% of the time again and leave us with NO XP as well. so be careful what you wish for.

Guy at SOE.."Oh, this guys sucess rate is 100%, Ok well we should really adjust it a little, how about we tweak it a little to a 10% sucess rate with no XP, that sounds good..."

It seems we are all having different opinions on the new mask scent.

I could care less about the experience.

But mask scent never breaks now. I get attacked with it up and without it being detected. There are some aggressive mobs that will not attack me. However with mask scent up it now has a chance to agg the mob.

Here is what was happening to me. Nests were spawning on top of me as I was running by. If they were aggressive and I had masked scent up I was attacked every single time before I cleared them off my radar. If I did not have mask scent up then I got away unoticed about 80% of the time.

From my experience I would have to say I liked the previous version of mask scent better than the new version.

First of all, after the patch, i ran around coronet for a while and maskscent was never broke a single time (wayfaring 4). Highest aggressive creature meet was a lvl 18 so i guess it work as intended.

Second, i know that some animals will move to you then attack you even with maskscent. Scyck on Tatooine are one of those animals (and maybe giant desert lizard too if i remember well). I think those creature are bugged.

So far, maskscent seem to work really well. Wait, no more xp ? Bah, was getting 13xp when sneaking lvl 18 creatures anyway (when i wasn't spotted) before the patch, not a big loss.

I agree Razjec. I really miss the messages. Another post earlier mentioned the fun we experience just going prone and seeing how close you could crawl to a dangerous beastie. I loved that. Testing my maskscent. Had alot of fun pushing the limits. THe XP like was mentioned earlier was minimal anyway. I only miss seeing it because it actually meant that maskscent WAS working and gave you proof of your ability. Made it all worth it when you saw the success of your efforts come up on screen. Now there is nothing. No failure message no XP. Creatures attack at random it seems. Is mask scent working? I dont know. Sometimes I feel it is othertimes its a mystery.

I definitely don't like the "detect and aggro". I was running back to my PA hall on Naboo, mask scent up and working fine, then I get a "a creature has detected you message".

I figure, no problem, just a bunch of yellows around. Nope, a Kaadu decides it's time to whomp me. Unfortunately I was in no position to fight at the time, and almost got killed.

Now someone tell me how this makes sense:

A kaadu gets REALLY ticked off because it couldn't smell me at first, but then he COULD smell me and decides to attack, but if I hadn't had maskscent on and ran up and killed his baby right in front of him, he would have walked by unconcerned.

If a creature is NOT aggro, it should not aggro you because it sees through your /maskscent. Have it run away. That is what "non-aggro" creatures should do.

I yelled about this as soon as I saw this in the dev notes for TC. This has to be addressed. I NEVER use masked scent now and never will. It's too dangerous. Exp can go away but the STUPID attack when detected crap HAS TO GO.

Honestly, I don't get their reasoning.

Someone needs to define what it is that makes a Ranger a Ranger in the dev team.

Then stick to that template. Stop nerfing and changing things based on what a few players say.

Ranger:

No traps that work

No mask scent experience, risk to high for nothing.

Come on for crying out loud. Rangers should be a highly desirable, highly effecient class.

DEVS DO SOMETHING FOR THE RANGERS

Instead of just taking things away.
