Has anyone watched Dirty Jobs on the Discovery channel.

Specifically the one were he was a chicken sexer.

I just had this terrible vision running around with the Ranger Turbo Mark 2 Chicken Carbine.

Rate of fire dependant on how fast you could squeeze the chicken.

mailorderchickens.org - Which further proves my theory that you can find ANYTHING on the internet, no matter how odd, weird, or obscure it may be.

(warning, there's sound and animation, so if that's a problem at work, don't click)

oddly enough, a friend JUST sent me this link a minute ago.

People, the 'range' part of Ranger is referring to an area of land*, not a distance. Think about it.

BY JOVE!!!

I THINK 'ES GOT IT!!

*though I'd argue that that's not necessarily the 'root' of the term (some other time, and in a much longer form)

Um....ok.

Though I like the post. Though I'm not sure of its purpose.

But it's Friday and my brain is fried.

Iconic professions. Ok. Chewbacca was a Scout. How come that didn't stay?

When you think about it, aren't almost all of the original professions iconic? You can find something on each of them in the Expanded Universe.

I miss being a Ranger. It was more than a profession, it was a virtual way of life. It wasn't for everyone. But those who took it up became family.

It was inspired by the knuckleheads who were saying that Rangers were meant to be Ranged fighters becuase they have 'Range' in the name.

Don't forget about the ones who think we should also be driving around pick-up type speeders because they think we are named after a motor vehicle.

Okay...that wasn't so funny.

Naw, that just about had me on the floor there.

Mostly because I saw a big black Ranger parked up locally yesterday and thought I should get a photo of that for the next time some yeehaw goes "but a Ranger is defined as $foo in the dictionary..."

Or dont forget about the few who think of ranger more in a LOTR style but think we should still be a ranged combat prof......Forgive me if I mis-read the books....but does Aragorn use a SWORD most of the time.....is a sword really a ranged weapon?

CLICKY

My brain hurt after someone said that...
But I may just be a bit cynical about the whole thing...
