PHENIX you are so full of yourself its getting ignorant.

ELITE profession Scout 4400 or Scout 4440 means that inorder to kill something a Ranger MUST take a combat skill.NOW add in the prereqgs for that COMBAT skill. Apply said Prereqs to the PREREQS for Ranger. DO they overlap at all?

If not then the Ranger "Elite" Profession has a NET loss of Skill points usable compared to a Hybrid class.

Now, now...this is the Ranger forum, not the Jedi one

Thanks for that break down! As one not overly concerned about the prereq's I havent done any number crunching. Guess I should find one of those profession calc sites.

Lets take it this way
(New Ranger Pre-Reqs)
TKM+MRanger

45 Skill points for novice Skills,

56 Skill points for pre req trees,

12 Skill points for Novice TKA and Ranger

112 Skill points for All trees

2 Skill points for Mastering Boxes

That comes to a grand total of 227 Skill Points.

This would be my template, now is that really all that fair?

So far it doesnt look like were even getting any combat mods for Carbines in Ranger, so why make it a pre-req? That would leave me with only 23 Skill points. TWENTY THREE. That would be the same amount for anyone that takes a Melee Temp with ranger......how is that fair since ranger doesnt give any combat mods?

Erm...what?

Two line elite profession: 15 SP for novice, 14 for each line= 28+ 15 = 43 skillpoints
three line elite profession: 15 SP for novice, 14 for each line = 42+ 15= 57 skillpoints
two line hybring profession 15 skillpoints for each novice, 14 for each line = 30 + 28 = 58 skillpoints.

Rifleman = elite

Carbineer = elite

Pistoleer = elite

TKM, etc = elite

CH=elite

Doctor=elite

Commando: AoE weapons, grenades = hybrid

Smuggler: slicing, spices, (future) missions = hybrid

BH: NPC/PC bounties = hybrid

Combat Medic: healing, bio-warfare = hybrid

Squad Leader: group benefits = hybrid

So unless they 'break the mold', the new Ranger = hybrid

I dont see'em making an exception for Rangers.

I added some elites that not have anything to do with the proffession it comes from CH/scout or gets combat bonuses even if it isnt comming from a medic pression as doc. Ranger as i see it got advanced stealth where scout got basic stealth, advanced traps where scout got basic traps so i can see them still as an elite proffession at least in same situation as a doctor and even more as an elite then CH.

Keep them elite will keep most options for custumizations open so ppl can stay Doctor /ranger or melee/ranger and not get penalty for the changes. I can see the ranger get same defense bonuses as Doctor as an elite and still not be unbalanced.

Fein out

I see what you're saying. But that would leave us as gimped as were are now, just humanoid centric instead of creature. I dont think any class gets general/weapon specific mods to speed or accuracy without prereq's in the approriate novice professions (whether melee or ranged). Same goes for terrain negotiation, that comes from Explore 4. I know Ranger with have modifiers for it, but the basis for those are the Explore 4 prereq.
