Because the people who regard them as such are severly lacking in imagination?

When you say stuff like "/sniff", do you actually say the word "slash" ?

I started saying "slash sigh" at people a month or so back instead of sighing at them... it's not good! Not good at all!

Any of you ask your barber if you can see the rest of the styles?
Upon seeing searchlights advertising some grand opening, I came REALLY close to asking my brother in-law what the waypoint was to.

I know I play too much because I taught my dog T1 and T2. T1 is to shake and T2 lie down. Now only if I can get her to A my downstairs neighbor when he plays music way too loud in the middle of the night and wakes up my boy.

When your walking through Walmart with a friend talking about the kills you made and then realize that everyone around is looking at you like you are about to psycho in the store.

Driving home after a long night shift caught myselflooking for a big hill or mountain to see past the cars ahead.

During a conversation with a friend, about visiting his new office, I had to stop myself asking him for it's waypoint.
You know, since I got my GPS I do ask and get "waypoints" for all sorts of things. My buddy "in RL and in game" claims that this is further proof of my slipping over the edge.

I dare say I'll be doing that.
Actually the in-game mail and waypoint system give me a glimpse of somethign I expect to ee i the not too distant future.
Mobile phones with GPS built in, then you can send "waypoints" to someone via SMS just as you would a phone book entry. I would love a phone like that, and I expect to see one in a few years (I hope it has digital compass, air pressure and temperature, digital video camer, mp3 player, pda functions too)

I actually do this a lot after playing too much at night. The next day at work I'll <ctrl> up arrow instead of just usuing up arrow to retrieve a previous command on an AlphaServer. Usually takes me a minute or 2 to realize it's me and the server isn't broken.
